A couple baffling problems

Hello,

I've been a lurker here for a bit but just decided to post and hope someone could direct me in the right direction to fix my van problems like you have done so many times before.

I have a 98 Caravan. I got stuck in the mud and needed a front end loader to pull me from the back hitch. Ever since then everytime I get near or above 65 mph the whole front end of the van shakes. Another problem that seems to have sprung from that incident is also when I turn on the A/C I get a nasty whine. I originally thought it was the compressor but we had a cold day here lately and I turned the defroster on and low and behold the exact same whine. Does the A/C compressor run the defroster as well or could it be a fan motor that is on it's way out?

Thank you in advance,

Patrick Tessier

Check and see if you have mud packed in behind your wheels, which would throw off your balance. As for as the whining, your compressor runs when you have on the defroster. It acts as a dehumidifier. So if the whining only happens when the AC/defroster are being used, and not the heat/vent, then it is something with the AC. Is it possible that there is mud/dirt in your pulley assembly?

Clean the mud off your wheels or have your tires balanced. Check your ac belt before you buy parts.

Were you going mud bogging or what? How did you manage to get stuck so bad that it took an implement to remove the van? That sounds pretty bad...

The other guys have good advice.
