Hi,
I saw some kit on ebay with the Union brand or collections rememoratrice or memorabilia.
I won a Porsche 907/8, i saw 917k Martini and some others.
I never build kit from this brand ? are they good, is there any finished thread of one in the forum ?
Tanx for your advices.

Not very good kits, but okay.
No reason to get the 917K now that the Fujimi has been released.
The 907/8 is available in resin too, but the Union kit can be made to look decent.

they are very good kits most of them are originally old imc kits
so considering that they are old kits the detail level is pretty impresive
if can get them at a resonable price definatly buy them
you wont be dissapionted

I love the fujimi (i have all 3 and pre-ordered the 4th) but they're curbsides and this one seems to have the 12 cylinders available. I missed the 512s, anyone know if this one is good ?

I have one of the 917K daytona versions and it looks okay. The pic on the box shows the rear bodywork not fitting right. Hope the photographer was just in a hurry and put it on crooked. The 907/8 is a different story. While one could build a nice model from it, it is totally out of scale. It looks like 1/28 scale. I sold one I had and bought the Fisher 908 and I'm glad I did (wanted 1/24 scale). If you want a 908 and not worried about the scale, the Union kit is okay, I guess. BTW, I'm currently working on a Fisher 917LH, the white car with red trim (#25), the second car for my LeMans movie car collection. Pics soon.

Hi again Levincer;
You are still talking about old Heller reissues...
Porsche 917K: Heller (Martini and Gulf; original issue); Union (Martini, Gulf, Salzburg, Psychedelic; first Japan reissue); Wave (second Japanese reissue); Testors (Martini, american reissue).
Porsche 908: Heller, Union, Wave, AMT (combo kit with the ex Heller Ferrari 330 P4)
Ferrari 330P4: Heller, Union, AMT, Wave.
Ferrari 512S: Heller, Union, Wave (2 versions), Protar (the Kit includes the optional parts to make 3 different versions).
As you can see all the kits come from old heller molds, have complete engine/suspension/interior detail, gummy tires, removable rear deck, bad fitting.

The Union 917 hardly has any more detail than the Fujimi, except the Union has separate headers. The Fujimi seems better overall.
The Union 512S is the same story, it has lots of parts which don't fit very well so a nice resin Fisher model will look better.

Im working in the 908 high [Union] High now and can tellyou...Very hard work!
Not just out of scale complitely inacurated! For example I add almost 2 mm in the sides just for look bether! The 917 from Heller is not so bad!
I buy one to take the ingine and some other parts and transplant to Fujimi kit! BTW its hystoric, old, chalange...

I have both Union (Ex-Heller) 917K and Fujimi 917K and i can guarantee that the old Heller kit is better detailed, but has a bad fitting and many molding lines to correct.

The fisher seems amazing but i never did a resin yet :uhoh: and the prices are quite challenging (min $95 + Shipping) for me to begin working with resin.
Anyway, tanx a lot for all your answers and p9o1r1sche, i can't wait to see your Number 25, i love the way it runs on the movie 'Le Mans'. I received my 911s for my Le Mans Project.

I must make two protests at all the Union kit bashing.
These guys reissued the old IMC Mecom Lola T-70 Spyder and IMC Ford GT-40 MkII. Both these kits are gorgeous with every panel opening to reveal plenty of intricate detail. They're a pain to assemble, but well worth it in the long run.

The Heller/Union 917 is one of the worst kits I ever attempted to build.
Yes it has allot of parts but the engraving was not that great and too many thick sprue attachment points to clean up. Yes it had an engine, but is was just a bare block with no engraving. The top was flat where there should be a 3 dimensional fan shroud, the bottom should have cooling fins engraved, the moulded in Fujimi headers look better than the separate Union ones. There wasn't even attachment points for the headers. The tires had raised tread detail instead of engraved detail. The front tube frame is a nightmare to build with absolutely no positive attachment points. The body was decent and the wheels were accurate. Fujimi's kit looks to be much more builder friendly. I love the 917 but I never wanted that kit again, thank God Fujimi made this kit.
