First of all let me tell you what I have.

1995 Thunderbird LX
V8 4.6L
101k miles

I've owned this car since 97 and I've only had to replace 1 thing and that was the lower ball joint on the passenger front tire last spring.. Lately I've noticed a clunking noise coming form the same side as the ball joint that I had replaced. the front end seems to wander when traveling at speeds in excess of 35-40 mph. Oddly enough, the clunking sound goes away after you achieve these higher speeds.

Now, this might help. After you stop the car and get out, you can rock the front end from left to right and it clunks, but the clunking stops after a few rocks. You can then drive the car for a bit untill the clunkin starts back up again. The front end still wanders at higher speeds even though its not clunking. I'm almost positive these 2 symptoms are related.

I no very little about automobiles so I hope someone can help me.

I'm having another probolem as well but I will start a new post for that.

Thanks for the help.

Inner or outer tie rod ends, maybe?? Raise that wheel off the ground and try to move the wheel. If it's a tie rod end, the wheel should move back and forth. Also, get a long pry bar and put one end under the wheel and lift up on the other. The only movement you should get is suspension travel. Anything else will be a problem to isolate.
