1998 cheverolet lumina breaklight trouble

I have replace lamps, checked fuses, replaced break switch, all of which are in working order. The breaklight above the trunk works but the other two arn't working. I have tried numerous adjustments on the break pedal switch and nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

Check wiring going to the lights for continuity. Or run a 12-volt power to the lights, could be a corroded plug (esp. if there's water in the lamp housing)

The stop lamp juice that exits the stop lamp switch when you apply the brake is routed next through the turn signal switch, thence to the stop lamp filaments at the rear. It's fairly common for that section of the turn switch to go open circuit due to cheap construction and resistive connections. The Center High Mounted Stop Light works because it is fed directly off the output of the stop lamp switch.
You're looking at a new turn signal switch assembly, and, unless you have the specialized tools and are comfortable working in close proximity to the air bag system, will need to take it to a reputable tech for the repair. There's no need to take it to a dealer, as any independent shop with proficient techs will be familiar with the procedure.

i need to replace my turn signal switch.

cruise control is at same location and wire for cruise shut off runs off same wire.

makes sense if you think about it, but still stupid if you ask me.

If you pay close attention to cars on the road today, you'll notice that the high mount comes on first then the tail lights milliseconds behind. Except corvettes, those seem to do left-high-right. Just a bit of interesting trivia.

just got mine fixed..........it was in fact the turn signal switch. Part cost me 40 bucks and 120 bucks to install. Dont mess with this stuff unless you know what your doin'!!!.....if you blow the air bag.its gonna run you 600 buckers!.

Hey I noticed that too about the milliseconds with the brakelights! It never occured to me to discuss it. Oh well, good observing guys.

Dealer charge was $230. Not bad. I have the security and air bags. I have folled with this before, but not the security stuff. Anyway, I had the same problem. Problem in the inidcator switch. I was able to make my brake lights work if I just slightly pulled back on the turn signal inidcator lever. Once I used the signals, only the middle light would work. Pull back and it was OK. Anyway, to dangersous to play around with.
