Instrument panel dont work for crap...

I just bought a '90 Civic DX about a week ago. I knew that the speedo wasn't working, so I bought a new speedo cable and put it in. I go to test drive it and it doesn't work. I notice that the temp guage always says that I'm half between hot and cold. The gas guage said I had a 1/4 tank, so I filled it up, with a whole 3 gallons, and now it says I have 3/4 tank. The check engine light is constantly on, and the guy I bought it from says that it was becuz of the intake that was installed. This guy works at a custom car shop, so I didn't think twice about what he said... Now that I realize all of these other problems, I'm thinking that he didn't know what in hell he was talkin about.:banghead: If any of you have any idea what is stopping the instrument panel from working... Plz help! The lights and all the indicators work fine on it, just not the guages. I haven't had a chance to spin the cable from the connection at the transaxle to see if it will turn the speedo or not, so I dont know if its the gear down there. I have a bad feeling its possibly sumthing with the computer? Anyway, any help would be great!

well i have a 88 dx and my gauges work but none of my warning lioghts work right the oil, battery and check engine light come on for no reason all the time. I havent found a way to fix those but i think they are somewhat compicated and i think it is when the friend i bought it from put in the new d15. Just go buy a new 90-91 SI panel then you will have a rpm tach and the stuff will work

anyone else have any good ideas?:sly:
