Question on plastic model contest...

Hello,

What I need to ask is if a pocher car will be counted as a plastic kit... as they contain too many metal parts... How are these kits treated in IPMS contests? Large scale kits (class 529)

Thanks in advance for answers...

In my experience IPMS only have an open category for 1/12th and larger scales. Ther is simply not the patronage to do anything else. In that case the the Pocher would be kosher! Of course any local chapter could do anything they like at any time so you'd have to check with them to be sure.

Sort of on topic. This years NNL is coming up down here in November. Do you guys think I could enter my 1/6 Scratchbuilt Hot Rod in the show/contest even though it is built mostly out of metal?

Ask the organisers, there is probably someplace it will fit in, at worst it could just be a non-comp display. Here the IPMS has a non plastic category that is for metal kits and even modified diecasts

I'll ask some guys. Things going to be a bitch to hall. I might need to build a trailer for it and hook it up to the truck. It will be in a plexi box that is 30"x18"x18"

You can bring it to ACME's show for sure. The Best in Show winning car last year was 100% scratchbuilt from all sorts of materials. I'm pretty sure there's a large scale category.

As long as its a car or motorcycle it's welcome. Doesn't matter what it's made from too much.

Excellent! I'm going to try to come to the next meeting now that schools out. And bring the failed Chassis as well as what I have done with the scratchbuilt transmission for the Hot Rod.
