I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee 114,000 mi. and it had a small crack on the top part of the radiator. My husband used Bar's stop leak and it ran fine another 6,000 mi. One day he noticed that it started to have a slow leak, he filled it with fluids and drove it to school, about 6 miles, on the freeway. When he came to a stop light after existing the freeway, the engined just died. It started right back up and he made it to school without any further stops. (Another 1 mile) The radiator drain plug (pet cock) had broken and whatever water he put in just came right out. On his way home, the engine died out just after a mile of driving. He popped the hood and noticed smoke coming out from the top of the engine where the oil cap is located. We had it towed home, and he changed the oil, changed the pet cock, and patched the radiator. He started the engine and it seemed fine idling in the garage, so he took it out for a test run. He went up the street and when he came to the first stop sign, the oil light came on and the engined died out. Now it's been parked for a week. PLEASE HELP!!! This is his ONLY form of TRANSPORTATION and we are broke and new in this area. And of course I love my Jeep, it's been so reliable for so many years and through so many miles, I can't just let it go out like that!!!

Hello, It starts up with no problem but when I take it out, it dies as soon as I make a complete stop to take a turn. I notice that the oil light turns on when It dies. I don't know how to check the oil pressure, It just has a light that will comes on If there is a problem. I don't know how to check the the spark going to the distributor cap. Another thing that I remember doing was unclipping a wire thing that was above the oil filter. I did it to make room for my hand to take off the oil filter. I forgot to plug it back in and I started the engine. When I got back home and was wondering what to do, I noticed the clip thing not in and I put It back right away. I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks

HI THE THING YOU UNPLUGGED WHEN YOU CHANGED THE OIL FILTER WAS PROBABLY THE OIL SENDING UNIT DID YOU CHECK TO SEE IF THE GAUGE REGISTERS PRESSURE NOW. IF IT STARTS AND IS JUST STALLING IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY ESPECIALLY THE AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE. IF YOU EMAIL DIRECT I'LL SEND YOU INSTRUCTIONS OF HOW TO DO IT. I CAN'T EMAIL THRU THE FORUM DALE jeepman600@aol,com
