Help with Power Antenna Removal

My Power Antenna is broken! I followed the Haynes Manual and now have the whole thing apart. The mast (silver tubing); has a hard stop and does not pull out completely. Is it just the silver mast that comes out and if so; does any one know why the mast is not coming out?

Welcome to the Club of Broken Antennas. My Accord and my dad's have the same problem. I decided screw it, I have a CD player anyway and unplugged the antenna all-together.

I had thought that but I would like to possibly sell and a broken antenna at the back may not be helpful... I just can't get the bloody mast out..

there is a silver thing on the top with two notches. i used a small screwdriver(flathead) and a hammer to tap the silver thing lose. it is like a screw. once you do that the mast will come right out.

I appreciate the help..... but I gave up on this! I think that the silver tube insert into the black rubber piece is rusted/fused in there..
