First off, find yourself a trailor hitch for your corolla and get a trailer about the size of your engine compartment... OR FIND a friend with a TRUCK.

1. Call, Go, Search, for a junk yard who was a tranny and an ECU for a 98-02 corolla. Tranny goes for about 700 and ECU goes for about 100.
2. Aquire parts.
3. Go to a Transmission specialist. You can find one in your yellow pages under Auto Repair - Transmission
4. Ask how much do they want to do the swap.
5. Give em the parts, pay em, and voila... you have a 5 speed.

All this for less than 2k...

OR................................

you can do a car search and finda a 5 speed corolla and trade your car in for it... plus or minus a couple of grands

To the best of my knowledge they start around $12,000 for a basic swap and go all the way up to $50,000 for the more advanced models. Before you proceed I beleive you need approx. 2 years of intensive psychotherapy.

Here are some websites for further research:

Oh, and as for where, most plastic surgeons don't have enough experience. Ask for a reference.

There's a guy on the South Island that does it for 15k I hear...but it's a bit ghetto according to the media. How's your immune system?

You will need:

Tranny
ECU
Slave Cylinder
Flywheel
Clutch
Throwout bearing
Clutch Pedal
Gear Oil

Budget about $1500 in parts and about $500 for labor.

The entire job at a shop should not take more than 3-4 labor hours to remove the automatic and components and replacing with the parts listed above.

Good luck. :bigthumb:

p.s. Oz, please seek counseling.......now...:screwy:
