i have a mugen ecu i/h/e typhoon intake mani recentley when my vtec engages at 5700 rpm it makes the vtec noise but doesnt pull till about 6300 rpms like it hesitates HARDCORE any ideas on what could be the problem before it would hit 5700 and pull rite THEN i've checked the solenoid gasket and screen that seems clean no buildup inside i just got my valves re adjusted and they were way too loose but that wasnt the problem either... if anyone can help me out please try thanks in advance

to make this a little more clear at 5700 it feels like it loosing power then bout 6400 it gains it back then it pulls hard.

is it a real mugen ecu or is it one of those 12 dollar chips off ebay, id bet that is your problem, since the fuel maps arent correct anymore, your losing all the power between those shifts.

its supposedly real... the thing is it just startted doing this like 3 weeks ago... i have had the ecu on longer than that so i dont think its the ecu... what else can it be..?

Is it a chip or an ECU?
Maybe you just have gotten used to the performance of the car and you dont notice it anymore?

It sounds like an ignition problem.
But 6,300 is a VERY high point for the VTEC cross over to be occuring, and could be part of the problem.
Put the stock ECU back in if you still have it, and see if it makes a differnce. Its possible your mugen one is designed to run with some more aggresive cams.
You might then be running rich at high rpm, which could have fouled a plug, or you could have over stressed the ignition system and fried the coil, or burnt out the diszy.
Start by checking the plugs, then replacing the leads, then the rotor and cap, then the coil pack.

i dont know if its a reprogrammed or chipped... but like i said i had the ecu on there for like 2 months it was fine... then all the sudden it started doing this about 3 weeks ago.....
now vtec does kick in at 5700 i hear the change over SCREAMING but the car like looses power till 6300 then it pulls hard.... that is my problem

have you tried anything that they have suggested? its not uncommon for a problem to surface only a little over a month after parts were installed.
the most recent part that changed on the car seems to be the ecu, so changing that back to stock might fix the problem, as so many people have told you.
it sounds like there is something that cant keep up at that rpm range, more specifically either fuel or ignition. check some parts out and let us know what you find. check the plugs to ensure they arent fouled. check the coil to make sure its not out of spec. do these things, let us know the results, then ask for more help.

my oil is full... 10w30 mobil 1 synthetic just changed it, spark plugs are new just put in some ngk's... distributor cap and rotor are fine... havent tried to ecu thing yet...

coil, as in ignition coil, not oil, like engine oil. the oil level would affect whether the solenoid worked, but you say the lobes are getting changed over, so i assume its not that. the ignition coil could affect whether there is enough spark to ignite the entire fuel/air mixture, especially if you are running rich because you are running the wrong ecu.

i'll check that today.... thanks

explain what the coils are....? i know about the distributor cap and coil....... wat else do i check...
and if this sutff is bad.. what should i buy next to make it work good

get a helms and look up how to test the parts. you will need a dmm for the electrical parts, like the coil. the helms will tell the procedure, along with the specs for each part.
if a part is bad, replace it with its working equivalent...

im thinking of just replacing the cap and rotor and see if thats the problem... do u think it can b e that? or no

You should TEST everything people have told you that might be the problem (especially the ECU), before you go out and buy something that might not even fix your problem; unless of course you don't mind wasting the $. Better to try and fix the problem once than trying to shoot fish in a barrel.

manual and volt meter= you can do it yourself if you tried. But hey it's not my car, $, or time...
