New BCM Installation

I installed a new BCM in my 2000 Camaro yesterday, however I found out that there is a BCM programming operation that must be done when installing a new BCM. Does anyone here know if that is something that must be done with a Tech II or is this something I can do at home? Any help I can get here is greatly appreciated.

I am sure you mean PCM (Computer). It needs to be flashed with a program before it will work, they come 'blank' when they are new. you can take it to the dealer or Find somebody in your area that has an unlimited version of LS1 edit. The dealer will just flash a stock program in there, but sombody with EDIT can change settings in your computer for a better program.

I just found this place in a quick search for some place in Indiana:
Exotic performance (http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/services.php?service=14)
that is VERY cheap......

No I mean the BCM (Body Control Module). The PCM is the powertrain control module. I believe my BCM went out because before my car quit running I was having VATS issues. I have researched this topic quite extensively. I have gone into the BCM diagnostics mode and checked for error codes using a backdoor that didn't require a tech 2 (more or less a key on for x seconds, key off, interior lightswitch on, key to accessory for x seconds, etc... and got a few codes from the bcm. one of those codes basically translates into the car won't start because the BCM isn't recognising the correct resistance from the key. I had the VATS deactivated in the PCM via ls1edit, however I think that eliminating VATS completely is more of a project then I am willing to tackle. Instead I decided to replace the BCM which houses the VATS.

yeah, your dealership has to do it. no way around it.

my bust. I have seen a ton of people talking about the BCM instead of the PCM...sorry...

Yeah, with VATS disabled you still can have problems with it. you actually need to jump the Wire to do it correctly (2 small wires at the base of the column...Find the resistance of the key and solder a risistor in that matches the resistance). I have my VATS tuned out and still have problems with it...
