always finding problems

alright guys, heres whats up... i bought a dynomax muffler to put on my truck, just to change the sound a little bit, the inlet on my truck is 2 1/2 and the out let is 2(inches). or the oposite, either way the dynomax only comes the same size on both side so i got the 2 1/2 and put it on with like 4 sleeves, but now it leaks on one sleeve, and the sound and performance really didnt change, maybe sound a little, im sure it would change more if it didnt leak, i decided i was just gonna purchase a whole cat-back system but not sure where to go, i only have around 200 bucks? any ideas, i was nice sounds and performance, its for a 2.2. thanks

alright well my problem is partially solved, im having a cat-back put on my truck soon, i just have a couple of decisions to make first... first one is the muffler, should i go with the vortec or the flowmaster... i know flowmaster is better but is the perfromance gonna be that much better than the vortec? also, would it be better to go dual exhaust or stay with the single outlet... will the dual exhaust add more power or anything? any and every opinion is appreciated. thanks!

When you were leaking you should of just used a 2.5" to a 2" reducer.

You will be reducing back pressure when installing a more free flowing exhuast. Your power increase will probably only be noticable at high RPMs.
You dont need to get a whole cat back if you want to save money.
The pipe from the Cat to the muffler will be same diameter in most cases.
I dont know what kind of sound your going for but I would suggest a Flowmaster. You dont need a dual out muffler unless you like the dual look. I have seen many trucks with the splitter after the muffler. But either way I wouldnt run to big of a diameter pipe after the muffler.

Go with a Gibson catback exhaust. You won't be disappointed! Also a turn down will give you a more "throaty" sound. A muffler shop can build you a custom exhaust and is usually cheaper. Just purchase a muffler (i'd say flowmaster) and they can add pipe to either exit from the side or rear.

i was told by someone who seems to know what they are talking about when it comes to cars, and they said that if my exhaust has to much flow then it might just end up making it really quiet and hardly make any sound? is that true?

If the pipe is to large and the converter and etc. is bored out or removed this can happen. Ex: Putting 4" exhaust on a 2.2 liter would cause this. It's not very common though. Sounds like whoever told you this was giving you a worst case scenario. Stay around 2.5" w/ the 2.2 liter and have a turn down installed to the end of the pipe for the BEST results. Hope it helps!
