ECU Question

I got a b18b1 for my crx right and it was automatic. my question is can i use the ecu that came with the engine or so i have to get a new one?? does it make any difference if the ecu came out of a automatic or a manual??? thanks!!

You'll want to use the ECU that came with the engine, unless you decide to switch the head of course. You should also use the auto or manual ecu for what tranny you're using; or else from what I've seen with my own eyes it doesn't work well at all.

Ok thanks i am planning just to go with a plain ls right now then later on go vtec with a b16 head. im just asking cuz the guy i go the engine from told me if i wanted the ecu and i said yes but i just had to ask to make usre if i needed it

Is your car manual or auto? you never said. If your car is standard, id get the standard B18 ecu.

Ok yes you can use the non vtec ecu but when you swap cyl. heads youll need a new ecu or vtec controller.

My Car Is A Manual. So Basically I Have To Get A Manual B18 Ecu Right?? Cuz The On I Have That Came With The B18 Is A Automatic Ecu

If you have a manual trasmission and have a auto ecu, you can use it but it would have a severe loss in power with the auto ecu. I have a manual b18 ecu on ebay right no starts a ten bucks no reserve. Check it out.
