had an idea

guys i had this idea i want ya to tell me what you think. one of the recent fuel injected engines i built was a 350 block w/305 heads and a mild street cam with tbi. i refuse to give up tbi because i want to prove that tbi can be a good competitor. so, i've seen single 4bbl tunnel ram intake manifolds go for pretty cheap, and holley makes a 4bbl adapter plate to mount throttle bodys on a 4bbl intake for their projection kits. i was wondering if you guys think it would work to use a tunnel ram with tbi. i'd like to go with a 670cfm holley. do you guys think this would work, pro's and con's? i think with this set-up and a custom burnt chip that this would really wake up my efi engine. the only draw backs i see so far would be provisions for the temp sensor in the manifold, and finding a tunnel ram to fit 87 and up heads. i really dont have a lot of money to put into this engine, and this seems to be a pretty good solution. thanks
tacoma man.

hell my 90 camaro has a 5.0 tbi 5 speed
and its dangerous with a hypertech chip.
but id say that would probally work,
get the custom tuned chip and it
should work. my popaw has a 95
Z71 silverado with a 5.7 tbi.
its 2 barrel though, id say
a fule pressue change should do the
trick......good luck

thanks man, i'm just hoping someone on here has worked with a tunnel ram intake before. i never have, but a guy i went to high school with has a late 70's firebird with a tunnel ram with dual holley's sitting on top, and it's a fast sob. i thought it'd be cool to mix fuel injection with that kind of induction, but didn't know if it'd work. anyone else?

yeah dude it'll work. But the problem with the tunnel ram intake is that you can't use the HEI distributor. So you'll have to get an electronic ignition type distributor to fit that manifold, which isn't all that bad cuase I think there much better and acurate than HEI anyway. So that's my two cents.

wont the stock distributer from a 3rd gen with EFI fit? it's smaller diameter than the HEI

well, there are two HEI distributors, the large cap, that is in the vettes, and the small cap in our third gens, the small cap uses a remote mounted coil, but its still an HEI, just a slightly different setup.

nope, still won't fit. When you read the write up on most of them tunnel rams it says that you can't use an HEI distributor.

well, id check, because by my personal definition, that applies to the in cap HEI distributor, but if you look at a remote mount coil HEI, the cap is often smaller than standard distributors, so id look closely or ask the manufacturer.

that's what i was thinking IROC, cause the tunnel ram set-up that i saw on a guy's firebird had a small distributer with points because he said the large HEI cap wouldn't fit, and it appeared to be the same size as what's in our camaro's.
how does the large cap HEI distributer with the coil in the cap work in a vette with fuel injection? are their 2 large cap HEI distributers? cause the only one that i've seen use's vacuum advance
