0-60 is a crappy measurement.

No it isn't, it's a etter guide for a comparison than a Quarter mile i.e. It can be applied to a lot of things, not just a trivial matter.

i differ in opinion on this one... i personally believe the quater mile is a much more informative, impressive, and a better guide than a 0-60 time.

1. it shows an entire power span, though most of the gears. 0-60 in a lot of cases shows us 1st and 2nd gear, sometimes third. i want to see how it performs past the speed limit.

2. if you were in a street race, are you really going to stop at 60 mph. no, you'll prolly go well into 100, at least i do.

3. a car may be faster 0-60, but get spanked on it's way to 90. my 93 prelude ssr, is a lot lot faster in it's high end, than low end.

anyhow, i would like to hear you're reasoning on this. you may have a good point, i'll keep an open mind.

oh and not to be completely off topic. i'd take a wrx sti over all three of those cars. they are good cars, but i've never driven a vehicle that handles like a sti.

Then you have never driven an EVO, same thing just handles better, and the EVO MR handles better than the base EVO. The STI was out voted by the EVO MR in a previous thread, that is why it is not in this comparison.

I agree the 0-60 measurement is not as useful as the 1/4 mile measurement (ET&Trap Speed).

That's all I was trying to point out, 0-60 is really just a number for manufactuer's to use to sell cars... who cares how quick you can merge on a highway, exactly, everyone wants to know how fast a car is in the quarter.

As far as these three cars would go I would rank the Z06 just barely over the M3. If I lived in Europe my vote may have swayed the other way considering that the price of the Vette and availability could be different. As far as the MR goes, their just isn't enough information on the US based model to place it anywhere amongst the Z06/M3. I'm not doubting its capabilities in any way, so I'm not going to underestimate/overestimate this car against the two in the comparsion. Put this thread back in action when the MR is out, and their will be a lot more opinions and objective data to make a better judgement.

As far as the 0-60/1/4. debate goes, think of regular people that just buy cars. You won't actually be going 100mph regularly in daily commute. 0-60 times sell to the average car buyer. Now if your looking at it in a all out performance aspect I then see why a quarter mile time will invoke more interest.
