New truck picked up a vibration

Hi,

I've noticed that my 2004 Silverado had picked up a slight but noticable and annoying vibration around 60-70mph. Above and below this speed it's not there. Did not do it new, or for the first 8500 miles or so. Have not done anything nutty with it, no offroading, etc. Seems to be coming from the rear of the truck (driveshaft, rear wheels, etc). Any ideas? Only thing I do with it is tow a boat, about 3000 pounds with trailer, and I'm not totally sure but it seems like it started immediately after one time I trailerd the boat. I only pull the boat about 1 mile, no more than 35mph through local streets.

Thanks.....

Don't waste anytime and get to the dealer..your truck is still under factory bumper to bumper warranty.
have them take a look, might be as simple as an out of balance tire.

I have a 2004 LS 4.8, and I'm getting the same thing. It varies on fwy surfaces, but I've drive the same stretch everyday, and I have been intentionally varying my speeds. Sure enough, at right about 71 mph, I'm getting rattled! If I drop it down, or speed up, it lessens. As I said though, different asphalt will either increase or decrease the effect. I want to take it in, but does anyone have any idea what might be the cause?

Same problem on my 04 Silverado!!!
Dealer balanced tires 3 times with no change. They then sent the truck to a shop that does road balanceing and found that 3 of my tires were shot with only 6 thousand miles on them. They are going to replace the tires in the next few days under warrenty.

Do your trucks have two piece driveshafts? Carrier bearings maybe?

Guy's look its your factory tires!!
Get rid of them ,have the dealer replace them with good year truck tires the factory tires are 5 years old they buy them by the million and put them on as they go. they stack them in a way that with heat and time brakes down the side walls and you can not get it to balance.
For those people that found this out at a later date , go to your big truck tire center ( peterbuilt,Freightliner,Volvo, ))))) and have them put a (bag) in the tire . This is what we big truck drivers use to keep the tire true.

I have Goodyears. That's what comes stock, Wrangelers. They suck in every sense, but they are the reason I'm picking up so much vibration???

Hello,

Did anyone figure out what the vibration was coming from? I am having a similar problem with my 2001 2500HD now and would like to know how to fix it.

Thanks,

Had this problem with a brand new 07 suburban in the family, bewildered everybody. came from the factory like this. after about 5 attempts from the dealer to balance and B.S. their way out of it, the dealership ended up putting new tires and wheels on the thing. runs smooth as glass now. I have wrangler AT/D2s on my 97 k1500, i like em alot. great traction, but that crappy goodyear treadwear. take it to your dealer.
