I cant stand driving down the highway and some jerk decides to ride your ass. :wtf: TRAFFIC, you cant change lanes, you cant go any faster, but this :loser: just doesnt get it :nono:
Personally I give them 2 chances, then BAM :22yikes: OOPPS: :sorry: did I do that, so sorry. I guess those reds caught you by surprize.
I admit I tail gate myself sometimes, but all lanes are open and your doing 70 and someone is doing 60 in the fast lane. If you dont want to drive with the pace of traffic, then stay in the slow lane. :dunno:

I agree, that's one of the main things that pisses me off when driving on highways. One time, this one guy was tailgating my friend when he was doing 55 in a 45 speed limit zone and only one lane. My friend slowly slowed down all the way up to 15 mph. It was really funny...and this one time in band camp...

one day this guy was right on my ass and it was pretty heavy traffic to a point where he couldnt pass me and there were people in front of me so i couldnt go any faster and he was right on my ass... like within 3-5 feet and i was getting pissed off so i signaled out the window for him to get off my ass and all he did was give me the finger... so i slammed on the breaks, grabed the bat that was in my back seat and stopped in the middle of the road... went back to his truck with the bat on my shoulder and told him to get off my ass before something unexpectingly happens! :nono: he started talking smack and i explained to him why i couldnt go any faster cause he kept saying well your goin so damn slow... THERE WERE PEOPLE IN FUCKING FRONT OF ME!!!! damn your truck sits higher than my car... you should be able to see the cars in front of me... maybe bitch at the person that is leading the pack of cars! so i walk back to my car and start to go again and he gets right on my ass so i traveled 15mph in a 45mph zone until he got off my ass and never again did he get closer than 25-30 ft! lol fuckin pricks!

I don't get all worked up over it. Unless there are headlights shining in my mirror, its their responsibility to be able to stop if I do. While I don't want to get into an accident, I'm not going to do something to help them get into one with me.

A friend was asking me this question. Aomeone rearended him when he was slowing down, and the guy's dad was calling him and talking shit how he was gonna call his lawyers if he didn't pay for the costs of his sons car :uhoh: :uhoh: ummm, some people are insanly stupid. Didn't anyone in the drivers ed class learn how much distance to keep between you and the car in front of you?
So, if accidents happen, do the cops ALWAYS blame it on the guy who rearended the guy in front of him?

personally, i hate it when people tailgate me too...absolutely hate it. :angryfire i'm not a slow driver either. When people ride my ass, i'm always tempted to slam on my brakes to scare the guy in back of me (though also risk him/her hittin me as well). I mostly tap my brakes repeatedly. After a while, they eventually go around me (after giving me a look, in which i politely return with a middle finger), then speed off. I understand how much it can piss someone off, so props to you EclipseRST

I Hate it but I just tap my brakes enough for my brake lights to come on and let them know they are following too close. usually the person backs off, the last thing I want is an accident.

in Michigan, YES
It doesn't even matter if someone cuts you off, then slams the brakes. its YOUR fault.
"unable to stop in assured clear distance" because we have no-fault insurance here, both parties end up paying anyways, but the rear-ender gets the ticket for 80 bucks, as well as 2 points on his liscence. (6 points and you go on a sort of probation)
this is on of the hot topics with insurance people, cus you can imagine how people would do this to try and fraud others out of money...
"you rear-ended me, but if you give me 200 bucks, we wont call the cops"

hehe having a lifted truck tail gaters don't bother me except that if they hit me from behind they would prolly flip my truck, i let them get nice and close, slow down then when they pass i pull fairly close and flip my brights, Hella's and driving lights all on, then slowly pull back. Not road rage it doesn't upset me, i just think they need to know what it feels like and being a big truck maybe it'll hit home a little more LOL.

My brother hooked up a toggle switch to his reverse lights. When someone rides his arse, he flashes them a few times and they usually get the hint..... hmm.... maybe I'll get him to do the same to my car.....

Me neither. If someone tailgates me I usually just let off the gas and coast. It's hillarious because it pisses them off.

I wrote this because, I just can not stand it!
This guy was tail gaiting everyone he drove behind, while driving down the highway. Traffic, well, he tried passing someone and was boxed in. I passed him, then he made his way behind me :lol2:
He rode my ass like there was no tommorrow.PMO. I sprayed his ass with half of my wiper fluid, slowed down, boxed his ass, then blew him away. He caught back up, again sprayed and he just kept pushing.
SLAMMED my brakes, well I guess he just didnt like that, because when I finally decided to let him pass  He slowed down, sprayed and he just kept on trying to temp me to get behind him. Is it me or are people really that stupid? I try to give most the benefit of the doubt, but come on. I drive a truck, If you hit me with a little compact, that is just what one would become. COMPACT.
OH, I have more tails, but I like listening to others exploits...

I agree, but sometimes you have to let them know it's not nice to be a dick.
How does one place a photo within the message text? Is there a code? I have trying to upload, but it just isnt working.

I don't recall being tailgated at all recently. However one of my old cars (a E30 318i) had reverse foglamps (extremely bright and extremely directional lamps integrated into the tailights). Those would work quite well for getting people to back away - most people would get a light headache after staring into them for longer than 1 minute in clear weather conditions.

The last time I have been tail gated was two days ago. I pulled over on the right lane and then the person tailgating me zoomed by and then cut me off! Back in December I got rear ended by a tailgater!

3 car lenghts long, or 3, or more seconds in dry conditions, and 4 or more seconds in wet, and night conditions. Any closer is bordering on dangerous.
If you're driving and some is 1second behind you and you have to slam your breaks on because there is something on the road that you can't hit, or another car breaks heavily, the car behind you will fuck your car, and his car up beyond repairs, and possibly a fatal traggedy. If he lives, it's his fault.
2 seconds and he'll still hit you, just not as heavy, and it'll still be his fault.
3 seconds and he'll stop just in time with no damage...
I can see it coming, but please don't (anyone) say otherwise and contradict what i've said. Not only have I theory lessons in this shit, I took a drivers course on December 7th (Sunday) last year, and we did PRACTICAL lessons, which means we actually got in out car and demonstrated the 1, 2, and 3 seconds rule at various speeds.
I had to get to a certain speed, and the driver instructer would tell me when to "STOP" which required me to literally, lock the wheeles up, not just break heavyily. We did this for 2 hours. We also did pin-head's, swivles, and other shit. I have a few pics from the day.
We used witches-hats (cone things) and on 1 second, the cone got crushed under my wheeles, 2 seconds, and i hit it, 3 seconds, i stoped just in time before i hit it.
I slow down my self.
Actually, I tend to stick to the speed limit in slower areas and wait for a tail gaiter. They usually get within 2 car lenghts behind me, sometimes up to 1 car length, but I've only ever had 1 person who was between 1ft, and 3ft off my ass.

All that sounds extremely proper and correct but IMO it doesnt reflect real - world situations. If you're driving and have to lock your brakes to avoid hitting something, you fucked up. Really you should be scanning the road ahead at all times, so that you're ready for whatever it is that you have to avoid ( a car reversing out of the driveway into your path, a kid running out onto the road etc). 99% of the time thoise things can be avoided by just looking ahead and predicting what they're gonna do.
Also slamming on the brakes often isnt the best way to avoid hitting a hazard, in fact most of the time its not.

I just brake-check them. But just consider being on a bike and have some asshole soccer mom run up your ass. I had a BMW once that came so close to my bike that I could hear my exhaust patter off his front bumper. At least I'm not my dad... he had some stupid bitch tailing him when he was going 10-over. He stopped the bike and walked back to her car... hahaha I wish I could have seen her face when some 6'4" man stepped off and told her what's up. :lol2:

well, when it comes to tailgaters, gotta love them. I don't bother doing anything to people tailgating, with the possible exception of those ones at night, with their high beam lights on... but anyway.
My daily driver/work truck is an 01 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel. On this particular unit, I have a PacBrake exhaust brake. 195 retarding horsepower at the flick of a switch, and look ma, no brake lights.
So, about 6 days after I put the brake on the truck, I am beetling downtown to a chiropractor's appointment, and there is a young fellow in his riced out civic following a little too close. I put my signal on to turn left, about a block in advance, and let the brake take over....
Apparently it sounded something like, B__RR_RRR_R_R_R_R_R_R_R_R CRUMP. The young guy ran directly into the ball platform on my trailer hitch. Upon inspection, well, I had to repaint my trailer hitch, and he needed a new front end for his car. the hitch tore the hood metal right up the center, and he almost made it to my back diff cover.
All i could do was tell him that it was his day to get the "special" gold star.
This all happened right in the middle of the busiest intersection in town, and now, most of the locals take care not to ride my ass.
Justice.....

absolutely nothing, if they crash into its their fault, and im not going to be as irresponsible as they are and slow down just to "piss em off"...

if i'm pissed i'll slow down about 5 mph (depending on where i am) and then floor it. only time i ever tail gate somebody is if i'm on the freeway and traffic is going 75 but some retard is going 60 in the fast lane. i'll go around them if i can, otherwise i ride their ass for a little bit to send the message and then back off

Also slamming on the brakes often isnt the best way to avoid hitting a hazard, in fact most of the time its not.
yeah, everything is fundamentally flawed, even what i said earlyer...
But yeah, you're right. Inertia takes place when you slam your breaks on, and yeah, scanning a head always seems to be a good thing. But at night time, in rain, or heavy fog, that system is flawed. My main point was, that 3, or more seconds (depending on traffic, and weather conditions) is the most ideal for avoid a horiffic accident.
A reversing car does NOT have right of way here in sydney. If you stop on a street and want to reverse into a spot and you hit something, you're at fault because you don't have right of way. Anything in reverse here doesn't have right of way. They 'think' they do, but they don't.

Slow down enough to get about 2 or 3 car lengths between me and the car infront of me. The person tailgating me pulls to the right or left to see around me and spots his opening infront of me. He speeds up to go around me and grab that space. I slowly slide to the left making him get back behind me or ride the shoulder and honk as he passes me. If he chooses to try and pass then just before he is able to slide in I speed up and close the gap. I'm usually in a full size Dodge Ram so there is very little chance of them trying to run me off the road. I don't get angry so I don't know if you would classify this as road rage. It's just fun. Especially if they continue to try to pass.

Like most of you guys on here i tap the brakes or coast down to an insanly slow speed. Last thanksgiving some guy was riding my ass at about 3-5 feet away (i measured the distancefrom a similar parked truck). I taped the brakes while on the gas going up a huge hill but he stood firm. In the passing zone i dropped to 15 in a 45, the car behind him passes, but he didn't. I pull off and stop. so does he.
I take off onto a residential street about 40. I thought i lost him, so i find a place to turn around. In the middle of turning around he boxes me in from behind (my truck was pulled all the way up to the plants past the shoulder). He gets oiut with a 3 foot long wrench and winds up the swing right at me. I roll backwards, then he starts beating the hell out of my truck. By the time i got it into drive he shattered my rear window, dented the back of the cab and the font of the bed (which is structural). He also nearly broke my rear side window and took the paint off below the window. I never gott his lisence plate so the cops can't do anything. if he tried it a gian, i am going to be sure to have justice served.

No no..this is what you do (assuming you're a smoker, i'm not).
If its night time, open up your sunroof..moonroof..whatever, and take your lit cigarette, and toss it up in the air. the cigarette will hit their windshield and the embers will fly everywhere. :evillol:

i'll slow way down so they pass me, and flip them the bird.
I never do a full brake check, like someone else said i'll do it only so the lights come on, but i don't feel like fixing the back of my car cause in my 'bird the subs are close to back, and knowing my luck..they'd be all busted up
well Signal, you could get the same effect with a well timed fire cracker if you had a friend with you

I will admit I use the washer fluid most of the time, but I have hit my breaks from time to time.
I was trying to get onto an off ramp and this guy really must of had a bad day, because he tried pushing me off the highway. " Not the gesture, but trying to ram" needless to say, he did not get his way. He must of been really having a bad day. NOW THAT IS ROAD RAGE!!! I would not intentially try to make someone crash. Not my style.
What was DMV thinking about :screwy:

I did the brake check to someone this morning.
In really heavy traffic, and they were following far to close. The stupid thing is I did it to them 3 times, each time I could hear them lock the wheels up and skid, and after each time they just closed in again and continued tail gating me.
I know it happen a lot when Im driving the truck as well, but being that its 8m long I cant see much of whats directly behind me, so don't worry about it.
I have however stopped at an intersection and felt something tap the back of the truck. Didnt bother me as its all solid steel bar. But at the next stop when I got out I noticed a good amount of that expensive chromatic paint stuck to the rear step :D

I need a new rear bumber, but it was toss up between that and being late for work, and it just had to be a day when work had to win.

I have just made an 8hr drive. I had this one guy behind me for about I guess 20miles or so, before he really started getting sick of being behind me. I guess my not moving and slowing down didnt make his start of the day.

I've worked out how to solve all my panel problems. All I need is some muppet tailgating me into a roundabout and then another twat to pull out in front of me. Kiss, crunch, hello repair bill of $0.
"My God officer! He pulled out straight in front of me! The 12 stacker CD player flew straight through the windshield! Yes, it was in pristine conditon officer"
