Quadrant replacement

Ok I went and got this killer deal on a new aluminum quadrant from steeda. "Does anyone know how to put this damn thing on."
I got the old one off pretty easy and you would assume the new one goes on pretty much the same way and for the most part it does. The problem is that the old plastic one has some sort of lip on it that allows the spring on the quadrant shaft to keep tension on it thus holding up the pedal. The new one does not have this lip. So now what. Any help would be appreciated.

i have the same install coming up (dont' have the quadrant yet) and had similar worries. i was just gonna give Steeda a call and ask for a set of instructions.
