96 Dodge Caravan Dies

I have 96 Dodge Caravan with 170000 miles on it. It has been well maintained and never given us a problem until a couple of months ago. My wife was driving it and pulled up to a stop sign and it died. She thought it was out of gas so I took more gas and by the time I got there it started and ran fine. This happened two or three more times it would die and not start for a while then only after extended cranking. I took it to the shop and they ran diagnostics on it and could find nothing wrong. They replaced the fuel filter. It ran fine for about a month and did the same thing again. Since it was taking so long for it to crank I replaced the fuel pump relay. Now it dies going down the road but will immediatley restart. It also will not run now unless you give it gas, if you take your foot off the pedal it dies immediately. However, as long as you give it gas it runs fine, no stalling or anything. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Few years ago mine would die coming up to a stop sign. Took it in and turned out to be the automatic idle speed motor which is mpunted to the throttle body. That keeps the idle speed above the stalling point. The new IAS motor cost me 77 bucks. Being on the throttle body, should be easy to change, saving you labor costs. Run codes through the van, if a code 25 comes up, that may be the problem. Good luck

I never get any codes when I check it just using the key off/on and Service Engine light method except ones saying the battery is connected and that the sequence is over. However another gentleman told me how to make the computer learn to idle again by starting the van, holding my foot on the accelator and slowly letting off until it would run with my foot off then doing the same with it in park and then with it in park and the ac running. It took several minutes but now it idles fine. If it does it again I think my next step is to replace the IAS motor. I never get any trouble codes is what confuses me. Would a fuel pump going out leave a low fuel pressure code on the service engine light? Thanks for your reply.
