91 4Runner Almost Stalls

Hey all,

I have a series of problems which may or may not be related. I would greatly appreciate your help!

1. I was having a starter problem a while back. My car had problems starting, usually when the engine was hot (on a hot day, or after a long drive using the AC). I replaced the starter with a new one, and that seemed to fix the problem - almost. I don't run into it quite as much, but every once and a while, I need to get a jump.

2. This seems to happen when my car is running cold. I'm at a stop light, it turns green, and I step on the gas. The car seems to almost stall between first and second. I've heard it could be the timing belt, the oxygen sensor (which I just had replaced) or the thermostat.

3. I've noticed a really small crack in the Radiator. There's a slight bubbling/hissing coming from it when the engine is hot. is this a serious problem? Is replacing the Radiator expensive?

4. Minor issue: my energency brake light intermittently goes on and off. The fuses seem fine. Any ideas?

Any ideas, and perhaps an estimate of how much it would cost would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I put the starter in myself, so I'm all about fixing it myself if I can save a few bucks. Thanks yota fans!!!

Question 1 - Sounds like either contacts or a battery problem.
Question 2 - Sounds like a bad vacuum line or extremely dirty air filter.
Question 3 - Any crack is a bad thing. Replace or repair.
Question 4 - There is a switch that is usually mounted above the emergency brake. If the brake is not fully pushed in, this switch turns on and off. Normally you can fix this rather quickly by adjusting the cable from the brake to tighten everything back up.

#3- I had the radiator replaced in my truck. It should run you about $180-220, and that's including the new radiator. Replace that immediately.

#4- Check the brake fluid. Sometimes not having enough brake fluid can cause the emergency brake light to come on.
