I have a 92 5.0 T-Bird with 82000. The trans skips when I am in overdrive going up a hill in a low rpm around 1100-1200. This is the only time it does this. Anyone know anything about this?

Describe skip. Or is it just downshifting into third?

It is not shifting into third. It is alot like an engine skip maybe thats what it could be.

Slip or Skip?

It's hard to tell the difference. It's more of a skip I think, like a jerk.

So do your RPM's go from 1200 or so up to 1800 or 2000 rather quickly and the car keeps pulling/gaining speed? Sometimes you can feel a slight bump/jerk when the torque converter is locking and unlocking as well.

94 t-bird at 45 - 50 miles per hour rpm jumps to three thousand as if in nuetral when you let upon accelerator it goes back into gear. Warmer weather seams to affect it more.

I am by no means a tranny expert, but from my experience it sounds like your torque converter is unlocking.

Are you at cruising speed or is it when you just get to that speed from accelerating?

i had the same problem before i rebuilt my t-bird, same enigne and everything as yours, when i was goin' down hill or goin' up hill it was slippin' like it was trying to search for a new gear, when i rebuilt the enigne i tightened all the torque converter bolts back to spec and it stopped
