Can anyone tell me what the whining noise is when I start my car? I only happens for a bit though. Thanks

I dunno but, I used to drive an A4 turbo, and when it was cool outside the turbo would "whistle" around 3000rpm, could be turbo, but I dont have a MR2

no its from the engine bay its really weird it just started happening recently. and it only last for a couple of seconds and if i rev the engine it goes away.

i think i know what it is. It happened to me before. Its the timing belt. That shit be squealin only fer a bit, but if u rev on neutral it goeas away. I just left it the way it was and it was gone after that

i would guess it is the alternator belt is loose. Check to see if it is tight. If not tighten it up and see if the problem goes away. I seriously doubt it is your timing belt because when mine started to come loose the check engine light came on and it started to lose power.
