its fairly simple, you need a push button switch and not a click or toggle switch because you want the starting motor to stop turning when you release the button rather than having to switch it back off, then remove the casing around the ignition lock, you need to run the wires from the switch to the wires at the back off the ignition(cant remember the colours so check a haynes manual or something like that). Hide away all the wires and your finished. depending on how you do it, you might still be able to turn the starting motor even when the keys are not in the car, but dont worry about it, the engine wont start,if you dont want to have it like that then you can split the possitive wire on the starting motor and connect the switch to that instead..........,,,,,,,,,,.......

I had to do this in a car once. I had a 63 galaxie that I lost the keys to.. So first I had to hot wire it to get home, then I installed an "on switch" and a starter button. Just make sure the button is rated to handle the power from the battery. Don't get some chincy button.

Why do you want do you want to do this? Maybe you should consider a remote starter.

I dunno its not really for me, i figuer if you already have to put the keys in and turn it to the on position why not just turn it one more position and save all the trouble of putting in a push button ignition, style maybe, i dunno. I believe things that make stuff easier more organized or more functional are cool, pushbutton ignition just seems like more complexity
