i have a 1994 c/k 1500 ext cab 350....and i just wanted some opinions on what i should get for exhaust? i think ive made up my mind though: 2.5 inch pipes y-ing out to go diagonal thru the back ending with 4 inch tips. How loud do you think that will be? i have the cat on and the pipe that goes thru the cat and from the cat is give or take 3 inches. the exhaust i have on now is the 3 inch pipe from where i took off the muffler, and that ends right b4 the truck bed starts. so give me your opinion!

I have a 88 chevy c1500. I have true duals from the exhaust manifolds back no muffler, no cat. It is very loud. 3" pipes, 4" x 24" tips. Straight out of the back under the bumper, sounds great. If you want louder bring them at a ninety behind the rear wheels....WARNING, the rocks and stuff thrown from your tires will damage the chrome.

turndowns will make it louder (at 90 before the rear axle, you exhaust shop can put em on there are resctrictions on how close the turndown can be to the cab)

Loud, we really can't describe the sound over the net, but if you want it to crackle, get rid of that damn convertor!

i get ya...it would be more loudness then a low rumble right?

It's will be a pretty good rumble, Are you looking to bring them out the sides or 45 them or bring them straight out the back. If you want to hear them more, bring them out at the sides or 45 them and bring them out at the corners of the bumper.

you get a good rumble, and as he said do away with the converter (or do as i did and gut the thing, it is easy) do so will give you a louder sound as well as more rumble

well i had told them that i wanted 2.5 inch pipes starting from where i disconnected the muff then y-ing them out at a 45 ending w/ 4 inch stainless tips, and i plan on havin them do that monday. i think i will have them take the converter off along with the process of putting teh pipes on. my friend has true duals - 2.5's from the from the headers w/ 2 cats on them y-ing out to a 45 with 4 inch tips. i think that sounds awesome

They, if you mean a muffler shop, can not legally take the convertor off. You will have to do it. I know this, my uncle owns the local muffler shop.

yea i guess that makes sense. so how loud will it be if i take the cat off then havin 2.5 inch pipes and 4 inch tips? if its enough to give you a migrane goin about 50 mph then i dont think ill do it. but i dont want low rumble either that i cant even hear at all. damn idk what to do

Listen, I have a friend with a similar setup. He has a y pipe after the cat, he had the exhaust come out the rear and you can hear it going down the hyway with the radio off, but if you turn it on you can't hear the exhaust. His are loud, Especially if he gets between tall buildings downtown. It will sound louder in the cab if you bring it out at a 45 angle under the bumper, but it really wont be anylouder you will just beable to hear it more.

er wait, i just went outside to look everything over and i measured the pipe of where i disconnected the muff. i had thought it was 3 inches but it is actually a little more than 2.5 so about 2 5/8 is the actual length. but i think im just going to disconnect that pipe right after the cat and it will still be 2 5/8. i really dont feel like taking the cat off and im not sure exhaust pros (muffler shop) will be able to deal with that very good and its to much hassle anyway.

Man, if I were you I'd leave the converter. The truck will have a "slapping" sound when you get on it any little bit without a converter. Straight outs are LOUD and very illegal. You'd def. get pulled if you drove in town alot. Most muffler shops where I'm from will actually ask if you want the converter took off, atleast the one that did my exhaust did. But I would really not suggest you doing that, unless you just want your truck very loud!

Hehehe that's the way mine is....I like that Crackel that comes without the converter. If you leave it on it will still sound good, but don't put ANY mufflers on it.

most muffler shops wont take of you converter, but you can it isnt that hard. my concerter is off and i do not notice anything when i get on it, other than it being really loud. your setup is good but get a good muffler too they can change the way a truck sounds too

i cant believe wat happened today.

i took it in this morning and came back at noon and they were done of course, but done it wrong. wow. they had connected the 2.5 inch pipes right where i disconnected the muff, which i specifically told them to take off that last section of piping after the cat and then connect them there. sure enough they didnt. and they also put on 3" tips instead of 4" tips. what the fuck. now it is just as loud as it was b4 i had done all of this(which wasnt loud at all). what else could possibly go wrong?

Do what I did. It's free, but illegal as hell!! I completely removed my exhaust pipe on my 98 GMC 3/4 ton with 350 motor. No mufflers, just a cat. And GOOOOOOOODD it is loud as hell.I scare the hell out of some little old ladies going down the highway!!!!!! My truck is one of the loudest I have heard in my area.

i gutted the cat a couple days ago. so heres the scenario: i have 2.5 inch pipes starting where the ext. cab starts going out at a 45 w/ 3 in tips..no muff, no cat(well the cat is still connected but i gutted the thing). when im goin about 20-25 its a pretty good sound, but then when i hit about 50-60 it goes quiet..i didnt really want that. would it be any different if i put 4 inch tips or even 3.5 inch tips on? since they messed up what i wanted i was suppose to have 4inchers instead of 3. tell me what ya think

i have cut off my mufflers and hollowed out my cat, and my truck is "oh my God loud". I never finished it by running straight pipes to dump it out the back, so it still dumps out right under the cab. Yeah, it's a little annoying driving down the freeway, but scaring all the old ladies is well worth it!!
