Weight reduction?

People keep talking about weight reduction. As far as I know, all that means is take out all the unnecessary weight in your car, like rear seats and carpets: the obvious stuff. What else is there that can be removed for weight reduction?

well, if you totally want to pull it down... you can do some major stuff. keep in mind that some of this may render your car less useful/not road legal

-remove carpet
-back seats
-passanger seats
-interior body panels
-window glass¹
-hatch (if applicable)¹
-hood¹
-exhaust system components¹
-roof liner
-stereo equipment
-climate control equipment (heater/a/c)
-your fat ass (lose some weight)*
-spare tire
-replacing body panels with carbon fibre¹
-lighter rims (alloy vs. steel)
-lighter suspension pieces

... i'm sure there's other stuff i've missed... but i can't think of anything...

¹- may be illegal, check local laws
*note- i'm working on that myself, have shaved nearly 50lbs off the car's weight so far ;)

It all depends on how serious and how uncomfortable you want to be. Here's a pic of how my car looks when I take it to the track

Removed trunk carpet, spare tire, jack, tools, rear carpet, pass. seat, rear seats. And here's a shot of my engine bay

Removed air conditioning (lines and everything), power steering, ps fluid tank, windshield washer fluid bottle, cruise control, misc. brackets and bolts.
Now if this was my daily driver it would be an extremely uncomfortable ride, so you have to take that into consideration. I have some friends who have even removed their door panels, headliners, one of the two ebrake cables, every misc. bolt that doesn't need to be there, stereo, every plastic interior piece.....
