Well classes are ending as you all know and a friend of mine, who is a rich little terd, got himself a nice paid for 2000 boxter with 35k on it. so naturally cuz he drives a porsche he thinks hes the fastest thing around. well i just had to put the little terd in his place, bu t before anyone calls bs the specs on a boxter are as follows 0-60 in 6.2 1/4 mile in 14.86.
well he agrees to race me, so later that night we head out to a well known road which is quite suited for racing, there are lots of people waiting there for us. we line up on of our friends flashes the lights on his truck to start us and were off he beats me of the line by about 3/4 of a car length and i catch him at the top of first we shift i pull a little half way through second and he pulls even through third, at this point we are still even and were apropaching 110 the finish line waits about 100 yards away and were still even i start crawling away from him halfway through 4th whoosh we cross the finish lin and its all over we pull over he congratulates me, something i did not expect, and he hands me the 25 bucks we bet on the race, that was by far the closest race ive ever been in, please feel free to comment and ask questions but please dont flame just cuz it was a 3000 vs a porsche.

I'm not surprised, I would call BS if you were driving a base model. The Boxter isn't a very fast car, for being a Porsche.

Those 2K Boxters were all show and no go. Well done
If I remember right you said your mods included intake, lightweight flywheel and clutch replacment?... Not a whole lot but I guess it was just enough. You knowing your car and him not having his long, I would think you had the advantage. Give the guy more time with the car and the result might not be the same though.

I Agree.
I'd like to see 2 sports cars, bone stock such as 2 boxter porches and with experienced drivers and see what would happen in a 5 mile race... that'd be a sight to see for my taste.

Boxters are ritzy but they haven't much go. I'm a fan of the old '56 356 Speedster myself. Great looking, great handling, decent performance for 50 years old and the 1500/1600cc motor!

congrats on the kill. porsche boxsters are not known to be straightline demons, they are more of a track and back roads carver.

the boxter sounds pretty cool at high rpms... while you're driving it at least.
I much prefer my m3 over the boxter though, I really didn't like the shifter feel as well as the seats.
I can't say how a boxter S feels compared to my car, the M is a much more fun to drive than the base boxter.

i believe the sl is simply front-wheel drive. Which everybody knows front-wheel drive cars take off like a bat out of hell from the line.

no my 3000 is not a vr4 it is a modified SL,which are front wheel drive. sorry for not clearing that up if i had a vr4 that guy would have been toast. a boxter would see nothing but the taillights of a vr4. again sorry for not being more specific. by the way how do you like that TA.

my bad, i don;t know much about the 3000gt, i know my friend has a vr4 and it is fun to drive and kinda quick. but if the case is that yours is an ls then serous nice kill thier
i love my TA i lucked out and got the right year for engine specs, and the owner before me didn't beat the car at all so i really got a good deal.
driving an fbody isn't like owning a normal car it is more of a passion than a hobbie. alot of people dont realize that when they buy one and then they get really dissapointed

Bosters are really not a straight line car, and as delivered stock, the suspension is a little on the soft side for a sports car... Then again, some new springs and shocks, and the car really comes alive.
I'd be more impressed if you had smoked a Boxster on a twisty road, on it's home turf. :icon16:

Nice kill, in reading earlier I figured the car wasn't a VR4. The race wouldn't have been nearly as close. The VR4 is a much quicker car in a straight line than the Boxster S.
If someone wants a really easy kill on a Porsche, come find me and I'll push mine while you drive. They don't go very fast with a nonfunctioning engine.

lol, yea if a 911 even got near my car i would bow down, still it would be fun to race one just to see it go, even if it beat my ass in the dirt.

The 928 S4 was normally aspirated, not turbo.
The 930 was another big motor older turbo Porsche with phonomenal straight line performance for its day.

The Boxster S is normally aspirated, so is the 944S and 944S2, along with the 911S (1967-76). There is no turbo Boxster. The only Porsche S model that I know of that is turbocharged is the 1988 944 Turbo S, which was only made one year because after that they converted all the 944 Turbos to the same specs as the Turbo S.

The 911 had an S model (clearly turbo charged) in the late 90s http://vista.pca.org/stl/993turs.htm

Yep, I wasn't sure if they made a 964 or newer 911 S that was a turbo in my last post, clearly they did.
