Tried the A/C for the first time this year and I am getting cold air from the rear vents only. I guess it is some kind of diverter problem, but I have no idea where to start looking. What is in the big black box under the pass. side dash? Can anyone shed some light as to where/what the problem might be? I'd hate to pay the dealer big bucks to fix something that might just take me a few minutes to fix.

Thanks

Rich

I had the same problem on my 1999. I put dye in the system and started looking for leaks. The compessor was leaking from the seam. I replaced the compressor, drier and orifice tube. I started to charge the system and had the front vents were cooling to 40 F. I then found a second leak in the outlet hose returning from the rear air. I suppose with the new pump the pressure was more than with the old. I also checked the evaporator under the dash and there was no dye on it so it was not leaking. I hope this helps a little.

thereare vacum actuators in the A/C box that open and close doors to redirect the airflowit is either stuck or the vacum hose has a leak or is disconnected

Ever get the problem solved? I've got the same problem, cold air from rear vents, luke warm air from front vents. Putting a can of freon in it earlier this year only made the rear air colder..

Thanks for any help
