Acura:
We are pleased to announce that the '05 RSX will receive styling and handling enhancements.
In addition, RSX Type S will receive performance enhancements. We anticipate the model mix to remain the same as the '04 model.

Man, oh man. So what do they mean by "performance enhancements" - the ASPec package standard on the TypeS? I hope they don't bump it up to 200 whp. I will definitely be depressed if that is the case. I hope I won't need a ton of mods to keep up with it!

If they wanted performance enhancements, the springs would all that'd be carried over from the A-Spec. And they have to boost the power - even though its one of the best if not the best in its class everyone is going F/I and that means that people get attracted to it immediately, and Acura looses sales. If its good enough and warrants the price increase, I might trade up to it.

I doubt they'd boost the performance that much, as it would siphon off sales from the S2000. Why spend $35k when you can get similar performance for $8-10k less? Maybe a boost up to 215 or 220 hp, perhaps?

I wouldn't like it. Convertibles have a tendency to be chick cars. Not all convertibles of course, but most are aimed at women.

Are you planning on just racing it or also driving it as your main auto? Just asking since there is a lot of stuff out there that makes your car a racer, but it is not legal for street use.
So it depends on your answer to the question above.

Hey, I forgot to mention I installed an AEM SRI in the RSX this weekend. It makes a heck of a lot of noise when stepping on the gas and makes a large vibration noise at Vtec (sounds like the filter vibrating).
Do you guys have an SRI? If so does it perform the same way?

I'm running stock, but I can't think of a problem with the AEM, I know the Injen had/s tons of heatshield problems, but the AEM doesn't have one. No clue.
RSX-S777

Yeah, I have the AEM SRI. Very loud sucking noise, especially at Vtec, but no vibration-type noises. I had to retorque some of the nuts after a couple of days, though. Maybe that's causing some jiggle?

EDIT: EYE-VEE-TECH
Hmm, yeah I get a loud sucking noise but there is a huge vibration coming from somewhere when Vtec hits. It almost sounds like the tube is causing some sort of resonant frequency that is rattling something inside (probably the filter). What type of filter do you have on there? I have the AEM that came with the kit.
It doesn't happen all the time, though. Only when I really push the accelerator down all the way. If I drive normally, I don't hear much of a difference from stock but if I do push it a little more, it does give the nice roar.
I'll try to check the nuts  some more this weekend and see if that's the problem.
Don't you love the sucking noise it makes after you turn the car off too?! :iceslolan

I did notice one small portion of the plastic manifold cover was vibrating against metal today, now that you mention it...
Yeah, I also have the AEM element. And yes, I love the little Sst! when you turn the car off. I also like the marked sucking noise when you tap the accelerator quickly. You know, I didn't realize exactly how loud the SRI really is until I heard it in another Type S one town over. This kid has i/h/e- you can hear the hiss from waaayyyy down the road when he's running hard.
So yes...enjoy the sucking and check your nuts, mmontO...

If he gently jiggles the nuts and doesn't force them, he should be fine. Then, when everything feels nice and tight, he'll know she's ready to be driven hard. Then, just whip it out (the Cher box set, I mean) and youre ready to go...what...

Yeah, I noticed the i-VTEC cover has that black part that was wedged into a rubber piece on the stock air box. Now it just touches the AEM intake tube. I took the cover off and it did make the same noise, so I'm not sure what it is. I'll keep trying, but if I can't find it, I'll leave it alone since it makes one LOUD noise!
I'll try to keep my nuts in order. Man, I think I'm going nuts trying to find this noise. Almond Joy has nuts, Mounds don't! Well, enough of this nutty banter.

I think it'll have to be good to compete with the competition on the specs sheet. Toyota, Chevrolet, Saturn, Dodge, Subaru are all running F/I and pushing pretty big numbers, we need at least an option for a SC or TC.

Maybe not farfetched, but i'd consider it very unlikely. More than likely, the TSX would come here with awd, but no turbo. I remember reading somewhere that Honda chooses not to release turbocharged cars to the public for fear of sacrificing reliability and customer satisfaction. If i find the article or a link to it i'll post it. I'd love to see Honda release a car with a turbo, don't get me wrong, but based on what i read, it would be very surprising if it actually happened.

According to a member of ClubRSX who went to Honda Labs:
-I think they already have an AWD TSX there, and they want the turbo to boost the power so it can compete with the WRX, etc.
-The RSX is losing sales to the similarly priced TSX, a turbo would add cost and seperate the two

I read in the new Speed magazine (which is a performance enthusiast's takeoff of Road & Track) that the new 05 RSX will have a new fascia that closely resembles the Honda "family" look, and will have new taillights that closely resemble the Integra's of old. Plus the car will have a clutchless six speed tranny, which is also going to go in the new TSX, whenever that comes out, but the engine is remaining the same.
