What causes these vans to blow blue smoke.? Mine started doing it about 2 years ago and has been progressively getting worse. It happens only when I first start the van or stopped at idle for several minutes. When I first start the van for the day I get a major cloud of blue smoke now. Although somedays it seems like it's not blowing anything.
The van a 92 Plymouth Voyager SE which I purchased used in 95 is running great. I don't notice any power loss something attribute to rings/blowby. No leaks on the ground but I do notice some oil consumption, seems normal tho... maybe a liter per month/bi-monthly.
I drove this van for 6 years before I changed the distributor, plugs and wires. And I only did it because I figure 6 years ! I better. This van has never had a stumble in the engine. The engine only ever stalled once (when timing belt broke !). Always starts first crank of the starter. Drive train seems to be rock solid. Although the body is starting to rust at the bottom of all the doors and rear quarter panels.
Canadian winters are nothing to these vans. Next winter take a survey next time on the highway, notice you always seem to see the Voaygers and Caravans in the fast lane. They cut thru slush and snow like nothing I've ever driven before. Of course before this one I owned alot of rear wheel drive cars and couple of pick-ups ;)
This will be 9 years driving this van for me. I plan to buy a new one this summer. I've been doing alot of lurking and research and for a while I had myself convinced I wanted a Toyota van... until I found my ballpeen hammer and beated myself over the head with it.:)
Seriously tho... I want a 2000+ Grand Caravan this time, it would be nice if I could afford it and get the 05 with the stow and go seats!
It all comes down to the looks of these vans... No other comes close in my opinion.
Ok I strayed a bit...
Any thoughts on the blue smoke.
