bored .20 over?

excuse me if this is a dumb question but what does this mean? i sort of have an idea but i want to be sure so i dont tell someone the wrong information. so when someone says they got their block (correct if this isnt what gets "bored") bored .20 over, what gets done to the motor and why?

The bore refers to the inner surface or diameter of the cylinder in the engine. So when you increase the bore, it increases displacement b/c in a nutshell, bore*stroke=displacemnet (of one cylinder). Take a look at http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question685.htm

more displacement=more power, that is why those little 2.4s have a hard time keeping up with 5.7s.
