Hi, im colin. i found this site with a google search while trying to replace my alternator*sp*. every thing went well getting it off *some how my father got it off with out loosing the belt*. now that it is time to put the belt on, i cant figure out how to loosen the tention on it. i have tryed turning the bolts to the left and the right of the belt tensioner and they wont budge. BTW i have a 95 sunfire with a 2.2 OHV. thanks for any help and sorry for the poor spelling.

They're not easy to do cuz the motor mount impedes the full extension of the tensioiner, your best bet is to use the longest wrench you can find and get a friend who doesn't need his fingers to hold the belt and slide it on. The easiest way is to loop the belt around all the pulleys except the alternator and hold tension on the belt so it doesn't move and the pull the wrench as far as you safely can and slip the belt on. Watch your fingers lol
