Went to get a quote for my S14....$500 a month!!! Is anyone else paying anywhere near that amount for their S14?

SHO411

Dude, I was paying $350 a month for my firebird and I was only 19 at the time. Got my DL suspended then caught driving on a suspended DL, and my ins on a V8 6speed firebird was $450, and that is why I sold my Baby Bird. $500 on an S14, you must have been on an episode of Americas craziest drivers.

That's ridiculous. I know how much you pay depends on where you live, your driving record, what type of car you have etc. But 500 seems expensive. I live in the bay area which is expensive, but have a clean driving record so only pay 60 a month. That's the most basic coverage though...don't know what coverage you asked for though. Might want to check www.progressive.com and get a quote.

I have a clean driving record. 3 years, no tickets, and only one accident and it wasn't my fault. I guess the problem would be that I'm a 19 year old male living by himself. The insurance lady said that the main reason it was so high was because of the car itself. Apparently there's a rating system for cars, and normal cars are at a 10 or 12, the S14 is at 22.

see what did I say a few posts back? Huh what did I say would happen if 240s got real popular and faggy ricers started to race and "drift" them. Huh huh huh seeeee its happening the insurance is sky rocketing. THe price is going up, and everything is going Crazy!! Soon every god damn 2 door 5 speed car in America that originated from japan is gonna cost more then a Z06 corvette for insurance. Just cause of gay gay gay gay gay!!! News coverage that only focuses on the bad. You God damn ricers Stop ruining shit for the rest of us!!!! All yee Burn in hell!!!! Burn Burn Burn!!!! Same for you street racers.!!

I have no clue what I'm talking about and I don't have anything to contribute because I don't know anything about 240sx's, cars in general, insurance or street racing. Because of this I whine about every overly made-fun of negative stereotype in the modfier scene.

Wow, couldn't have said it better myself.

i don't think the car itself is the only thing that's causing your insurance to be excessively high. yeah, like you say marc, it's most likely due to the fact that you're a 19 year old living by himself with a sports car. think about that man from the point of the insurance agency. i'd say that equals high ass insurance premium. but...is that just for the state minimum? cuz even that is really high.

sure sign that i'm getting old: all high schoolers are immature punks to me. i hate my neighborhood when i come back home from college. it's filled with idiotic high schoolers who waste their job money on worthless mods for their civics, CAVALIERS (?!) and neons. man, i know i shouldn't be like zanark and complain about them, but damn! kids need to find something better to do with their time and money.

i blame those damn fast and furious movies. and it's time for my prune juice.

NOw if I was complaining Ide bitch and bitch and bitch about this kid down the steet who has an integra with a Gt-R emblem on it :D. Thats wrong in oh so many ways. and if I was to bitch ide comment on how bush is fucking up the economy and how coke heads shouldnt be allowed in office. Or Ide complain about my less then perfect love life or how my right toe is just a tad longer then the left. Or Ide just bitch about how when ever Im fucking a girl she never lets me put it in her butt D=< Now thats what Ide complain about. But this car shit? Naaaaaw Im not complainin.

Yeh im totally confused as to why your paying so much. I'm 21 yrs. old, live alone, and live in Massachusetts which is suppose to be the worst state to insure anything because of our wacky laws. I have a perfect driving record as well. My yearly premium on my s13 is about $1300. Last year I was planning on buying a brand new WRX and I checked on the insurance it was still only going to cost be about $250 a month, so wtf is the deal with all the people who pay that much money? Is it your state, or your just getting fucked sideways by your insurance company..

Zanark
05-19-2004, 02:54 PM
eh Jspec watch your tongue and dont insult my "family" k? first off no my family is actually very intelligent, its just me and my mom. Im the one who fucked the insurance up by getting so many wrecklass tickets and totalling my camaro. It wasnt that high to begin with it started off at around $450 a month. I have a horrible driving record and I just got my license back after 6 months yesterday. And its partially my state and the fact that I use progressive. But yeah I know Im paying out the ass for insurance, its completely my fault but seriously dude learn to show abit more respect k?

well have the car under parents name plus if u have a good driving record and a good GPA might help a bit??

i pay 100 $ a month for 96 (626) and 89 (240). cheep insurance!

Marc-OS
05-19-2004, 10:57 PM
$500 a month was for full coverage. It's like $150 a month for the minimum. I would get insured under my parent's name, but then I'd have to live at my parent's house, or have the car in their name. Either way, I can't do it.

i drive a 96 and my quote was 290 a month for just liability, being 18. i dont know how much it will be if full coverage cause its already expensive. and now im under my dad's names and its cool its not that expensive.

05-23-2004, 10:49 PM
guys, i pay 80 a month, im 16, and have a ticket already(in the first two weeks i had my license, goin 45 in a 25.). i dont have a student discount, or a premium drivers discount. i thought the 80 was high but holy fuck, 850 bucks?? thats fuckin insane, that would take me lets see, 5 months to save up, and thats not even paying for anything else such as gas or car payments

SHO411
05-23-2004, 11:06 PM
You guys need to move out of Cali, I'm in GA, I had my DL suspended for speeding, got t-bone by some old guy and was busted for driving on a suspended DL, and then 3 speeding tickets 29 above, 31 and 34 above, I was 21 and they gave me a quote of 450 a month for full coverage................ I sold the car last moth. Not too many 240s' here so Ins is very cheap.

longlivetheZ
05-23-2004, 11:28 PM
I've found that it kinda depends on what ins company you choose.

When I was 17-ish, living in Kentucky, I had Liberty Mutual for my 300ZX 2+2 (which is the slow one) while I was living at home and in school. I took all the driving classes and all that crap, had the bare bones coverage, and STILL paid ~$230/mo. Then I moved to Florida and got some little company to insure me...only ~$120 a month for the same damn thing. If you go with the big companies, you get reemed...geico, progressive, etc...screw that. I'm on my parent's policy NOW in my cheap ass little slug of a beater car and I STILL have to pay ~$120 a month and I'll be 21 in less then 2 months. I got a quote for whatever minimum coverage I'd need if I leased a 350Z from geico or something just for the hell of it and it was an astronomical ~$600 a month. Insurance is a fucking conspiracy.

Why some people get off so easy (Zdude and kaos2tru) and I get screwed, I'll never know...and it pisses me off. I have a very clean record...I'm almost 21 years old, I passed driving school before I got my license, went to a driver's course thing for a ticket once, have no points on my license, haven't had a ticket in ~2 years, never been in an accident, and the tickets (2) I did have were very minor...and one of them I went to court for and got dropped.

Massachusetts which is suppose to be the worst state to insure anything because of our wacky laws.

Wacky laws?

who waste their job money on worthless mods for their civics, CAVALIERS (?!) and neons.

Civics can be made fast, but are played out. But cavs and neons......HAAAAAAAAAA...what a joke...you rule.

also sho411, if your talking about your SHO you dont pay anymore then a regular taurus and i think the taurus is the cheapest insurance you can possibly get.

SHO411
05-24-2004, 09:47 PM
Funny bill, but the ins in GA caught on to SHOs' the ins on them is about 40-80 bucks more thana reg, I wish they rated it as they did my moms.
And HELL NOOOOOOooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is no way I would pay more than $200 a month on ins for a freaking taurus even if it is an SHO, my bad record had me paying $145 a month, so I bought the 240. The $450p/m was for my Trans-am, it was a 97 and a 6sp, when they told me that I said sold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was one of the main deciding factors as to selling that car, that and the way I got smoked by a Supra TT.

HA.......I love Supras. That pic in your sig is pretty cool looking. Looks kinda like a mound of ground beef though........ :lol2:
