98 malibu check engine light

Okay so I've read around a little and was wondering if ne1 here could give suggestions on what it might be making my check engine light come on. Maybe the intake gasket? :banghead: Thx 4 ne help guys


Edit: BTW It has the 3.1 v6

it could be a hundred different things. even a loose fuel cap. you need to take it to have thecodes pulled

I had my check engine light on my 2000 malibu on for a week or so but solved it with my owners manual.
Two things were make sure your gas cap is sealed properly.
have you recently changed fuel supply or used what may be low quality gas.

I went back to my regular gas station and in a few days the light went out,its been out for 6 months,so it must have been the fuel.
