i believe i should start threads in here more often. soooo here we go.
for breakfast i have 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of whole milk, a banana, 1 scoop whey protein, and a vitamin.
as you can see, that is the perfect breakfast. oatmeal: complex carbs with pleanty of fiber. milk: simple carbs, protein, fat-fat is necessary and skim milk tastes like water! banana: simple carbs and potassium of course. whey: the perfect protein(although eggs are a close second which a have later in the day). i only have one vitamin at this point, and then i take another one later in the day.
tell us what you eat. if i can help refine your diet i will do so. (i hate when people say they are going on a diet, you are already on a diet, moron! you are now in the cleansing stage to a balanced, refined diet.)

Cocoa Pops, with whatever milk is in the jug (Just like a chocolate milkshake only crunchy!), Toast (usually with honey), some pear slices and a cup of Raspberry cordial, followed by a cup of choco-espresso.
That is on the 1 or 2 mornings a week that I am up for breakfast....

of course you shouldn't skip breakfast, it sets you up for the rest of the day......okay tell you what, try having a big breakfast one day and see how it compares to the other days when you don't have breakfast. You'll feel much more active and awake than you would without breakfast.
Anyway, for breakfast I usually have 3 weetbix in milk, 3 eggs with 3 slices of toast, 3 slices of toast and peanut butter, a banana and a whey protein shake. Yeah I know I'm eating too much toast, but meh I love it :p
lol, it may seem like a big breakfast but i have my breakfast at like 7.15am and by 10am i'm starving again :p I loves my food

ok, thanks for the breakfast advice. hopefully i'll get to try it, but doubt it will be soon tho cuz i usually don't have time for a good breakfast :(...that probably contributes to my lack of appetite in the mornings

I usually eat 2 bowls of raisin bran with a banana,1cup of yogurt, 1 cup of coffee and a Nutrigrain or granola bar. every now and then I have some eggs. If I skip breakfast I feel like shit for the rest of the day.

kitted, thats a PERFECT breakfast? Slow metabolism eh?
might be perfect for you but damn, thats fucking tiny. It varies. I'd be seeing black spots 1hr down the road if I tried to live on that.

thats the only beer my roommate had in the fridge, so we both made avatars while taking a drink.
i consume 250-300 grams of protein daily. i try to hit the 40/40/30%. protein/carb/fat.

i get a darn good deal at GNC because i know the manager of the store. bodybuilding.com has better deals overall. just ask around and make sure what you are taking mixes well. nobody likes chunky protein drinks.
i take gnc 100% whey protein-the chocolate flavor. it is actually pretty good and it doesnt upset my stomach.

My average breakfast looks like this, Egg Sandwich (with cheese and ham), 1 Scoop of 100% whey protein in a cup of milk with celtrum multi vitamin, bannana or apple (usually bannana), and 6 grams of creatine mixed with a juice that has simple sugars such as glucose/dextrose like for example grape juice. Thats my breakfast usually....

I either have:
8 scrambled eggs (4 whole, 4 whites) and 2 pieces of wheat toast and 2 servings of skim milk
-or-
1lb of 1% cottage cheese, 2 pieces of wheat toast, and milk
Kitted, there is no such thing as a 40/40/30% diet, that equals 110%. Also, if you want 40% of your diet to be protein and you consume 3600cals, you need 360g of protien. Also, 250-300g of protein is too much unless you have 250-300lbs of lean body mass. Taking shakes in the morning is not necesary. Shakes should only be used when you need protein and can't get it elsewhere. At breakfast it is very easy to get protein. After my workouts I have a whey shake with maltodextrin to get a rush of protein to my muscles. Also, before bed is the only other time you should need a shake so you can get slow abosorbing protein (egg or casein) to absorb while you sleep.

1 pound of cheese, i would throw up! sorry about the mis-type there of 40-40-30. i believe most people understand what i meant. you do have a lot to learn it seems. you came to the right place. myself as well as a few other members are extremely knowledgeable in the matters of nutrition.
edit: great point on the absorption rate. i never pointed that out to anyone. also, i was wrong in the percentages to make a point. humans tend to stretch their stats to get a point across.
it also seems as though you will be a valuable asset to this forum. welcome.

40/30/30 is what i meant. i am off in my caloric intake which is really about 3200, but i like to think that it is higher to keep me motivated.
the only real problem i had with your post was about when to take protein. your body is rebuilding muscle all the time. although natural sources of protein is more important than supplemental, no natural source compares to the completeness of whey.
protein must be consumed throughout the day, preferably every 2 hours. breakfast on the other hand is where protein actually gets in the way, or hinders the bodys ability to absorb simple carbs to get up and going. then again, as you stated slow absorbing proteins should be taken at the evening-very good point once again. do not eat eggs for breakfast, i dont care if you see bodybuilders eating eggs or egg whites for breakfast. what people need to do is eat pleanty of carbs with a good amount of fibre.
some peoples routines may differ than mine, but i like to tackle my cardio workout during the morning hours right after breakfast. this is why carbs are sooo important. our energy comes from carbs for those that didnt know.

Don't get mad by me asking this but do you even know what whey is? Whey is the same protein that is in milk. By drinking milk and eating dairy products like cottage cheese I am consuming lots of whey protein. Whey is a natural. When your drinking your whey shake you are drinking natural proteins.

whey is naturally found, but not in the state that we buy it in. therefore, it is not natural, and the body does not break down and absorb supplements (protein powder) as well as it would absorb a food found in its natural state (chicken). that is all that i was trying to say.
i actually thank you for picking apart my posts. this shows me how careless i have become. it also shows that i just want to type and get the post over with instead of putting some real thought into it.

The protien you buy is natural. The whey isolates and concentrates come from filtering milk. Thats how all the companies make it. It is faster absorbing then protein found in foods. It already is broken down. Thats why the powders are rich in BCAAs and are so good after workouts.
