1992 Royale 88 3.8 engine crankshaft sensor

Pedestal and sensor seem to be behind plastic dust cover. Does cover come off for removal of sensor?

Cover does need to be removed. Carefully pry cover at each bolt-pin attachment point to access crank sensor.

You will have to remove the harmonic balencer to
replace it. The new one comes with it mounted on
a new bracket. Alignment is critical on this and should not be pried off the bracket a couple of thousands mismatch could wipe it out when you turn the engine over.

how did you know for sure that your car needed a new crankshaft sensor? what problems were you having before you used this remedy.
