Head Gasket Leak

Overflow tank drains about a quart a day. Water pump was replaced but seemed fine. I think the head gasket is leaking, how hard is it to replace the gasket? About how long will it take to replace it?

You might have a bad Rad cap, I would try this first.

The fluid drains out at night while it is parked. I saw it dripping once, it seems to come out from under the front of the engine.

you need to find the source of the leak. if you can see fluid on the ground it is not likely that it is a head gasket may be a hose :eek:have it pressure tested that is a sure fire way to find the leak :smokin:

What nova racer told you is correct, if you see the water dripping maybe is a hose.
Head gasket damaged occur when you overheat the engine and you donīt see any water leaks.

If the head gasket is leaking you would probably see white "smoke" coming out the tail pipe. I just replaced mine because of that kind of leak.
I would add to check out your radiatior, a pinhole leak loses a lot of fluid over time, or the petcock at the bottom may have helped itself loose.
