67 Camaro RS Hideaway Headlights

My son and I need help in trouble shooting hideaway light problems. We had the drivers side door motor quit. We replaced and now neither side functions. Any information to help us locate the potential problem would be appreciated.

theres gotta be some sorta switch or relay, i would check into those for starters, and did you hook the motor up right??

wow, um.... old school tech haha. so when the driver side motor quit, the passenger still worked? and then you put in the new one and neither workd. im assuming all you disconected the first time was the motor on the driver side. are the two motors wired in parralel, series, or seperate circuits? im not familiar with the wiring of this system, but i suppose its possible that when you hooked up the new motor you shorted something and blew a fuse or something. id bust out a test light and start checking for power on the circuit, test back from the motors untill you get power, then you should be able to find your problem.

i thought some of those were vacuum?

I have been working on the lights and when I manually closed them then pulled the switch they both opened but neither will close. I have tried all the key and switch combinations and nothing happens except for the lights turn on and off but the doors don't close.

relay perhaps??

sounds like the switch is bad. if your getting the power to close them, but not open them, i would say only one way of that two way swich is working. some sort of internal failure? have you checked for power on the wires when using the switch? have you checked your connections to the switch?

Do you know were I could get switches?
They don't stock them in year-one

eh.... not really. but before you buy a new switch, make sure the wire isnt broken somewhere.

90% of the '67 RS headlight problems that I have seen ended up being a bad ground. Make sure that you have good grounds to the motors.

Also, if you are grounding to powdercoated parts, make sure you scrape the powdercoating off enough where the wire and washer can get a proper connection.

Check to make sure the door is contacting the limit switchs in the full open position.The motors can't reverse and close if the limit switchs are'nt depressed.

i thought some of those were vacuum?
All 67s were electric,68 was the vacuum type.

after all the work the relay was just un plugged
must of bumped it when i was working on the alternator
