before and after

well, a while back we were visiting the town around where my grandma lives (actually... just the winery) and i saw this neat old Mercedes-Benz. so i snapped a couple of pictures.

and at the start of the Copper State Classic i was wandering around, taking pictures again (like always) and when i got home... i realized what i had taken a picture of...

anyway... i found it pretty amazing, seeing how different the same* car can look after so many years...

They don't look the same to me. One has fog lights or what ever. Your grandma's has side markers. And grill things next to the main lights. Other then that looks the same to me.

Actually, my friend works for a car dealer now, and we had to take an SL300 up to a Mercedes mechanic. He had a black car just like that, a 56 I think, I was asking about it, it was a 220SL IIRC. Hope that helps you out some, I only saw the back end of it though. Those two cars aren't identical, just look at the grille, anyways, they could be close, like different trim levels, something of that sort.

They're both W180s, unless I'm mistaken. I don't think I've ever seen those little grill intakes next to the headlights before...

There is no 220SL :P

There is a 220S, which is built on the W180 platform, as well as the 220A. The car at the show is a 220S, you can tell by that little chrome strip on the side of the fender.

Look at the roof too.

Yea definetly a camera...And they could be the same car, depending on if the guy who rebuilt it did some custom work on it like adding the removable roof and the turn signals as well as the fog lights...

they aren't the same car... the pictures were taken 2 months apart

i just thought it was amazing that i saw the first one in *literally* the middle of nowhere, and the second at a pretty big rally here in town
