unorthodox racing pulley's

i was reading in the jcwhitney sport compact cataloge that these can give your car up to a 40 hp increase and 50 ft/lbs of torque more. they cost $350. you think this is bullshit or is it true. i think it's bullshit.

its bullshit. Well, it depends, if you are running turbos, pulleys might give you alot of horsepower, but if you are just putting pulleys on, you will get no where near 40 horses.

what I think is bullshit is the price 350 thats gay

doesn't the underdrive pulley take away power from your stereo if you got one?

Well, it takes away from the whole electrical system. If you have a stereo system, (Subs, amps, etc) then if you get pulleys, your lights will prolly go really dim.

40 hp is possible.........with a race preped 350 chevy motor maybe.


dont expect to see anything close to that except maybe the number 4 alone with the ol 1.6. also for your info there crank pullies are starting to become notorious for destroying crank bearings due to the loss of a harmonic dampener......

basically the harmonic dampener does exactly what it say's. it dampens or tries to filter out all the harmonics from the reciprocating mass. if its not there then that pitch or vibration can cause the crank to rotate unevenly ever so slightly but just enough to destroy a bearing.
