Has anybody ever tried taking a 1/24 die-cast that is not available in plastic and casting it in resin? If so,, were the results successful? Thanks

Yea I was looking at casting a 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty. I have no access to the equipment though, and seemingly nobody knows much about it?

well resin casting is pretty easy. the supplies are a bit more. you can get a complete kit for around 50$.

Not to knock some of our fine aftermarket folks on this board (like Chris of Scale Auto Style) but when it comes to casting a whole kit you might be better off talking to some of the guys on the Hobby Heaven boards. Unless I miss my guess, some reps from domestic resin heavyweights like The Modelhaus, Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Maryland, Fisher Model & Pattern, and Perry's Resin hang out there.

Trust me, when you see kits like The Modelhaus's 1949 Cadillac Sedan de Ville, you'll see just how good these guys are at resin casting.

Check the FAQ for a How-To on Molding making and resin casting. Dag65 did a great job. www.micromark.com has a good resin starter kit.

I've got a Saleen S7 diecast I want to cast in resin, but haven't gotten around to it. Just order the supplies and give it a shot. It can be done, but will probably take a few tries getting a good mold, depending on the complexity of the model your reproducing and your skills.

Simple parts are fairly easy to cast. However bodies on the other hand, they are a whole different story. The mold will often be 3-4pieces and that isnt easy.
