Bad MPG and Surging

I have two concerns, idle control module and surging. As for the idle control module thing, mine sits and goes click, click, click when I shut the car off. It is trying to push out the rod or something, and when I drive down the road I can here it vibrating, sounds like water running through a hose, but it is this thing doing something.

I am getting bad gas mileage and surging so I took it to the Stealer and they said the fuel pressure regulator was fine, coils were fine, has new plugs and wires. Said I needed fuel injector service, I had them do this for $160. I don't think the mpg has improved and the surging is still there. The surging is not intermittent, it is a oscillation (same amount of time between each surge) does anyone have any ideas (this is a 95 with 120,000 on it)

This might sound weird because I once had the same problem and it had to do with the rug on the driver's side being shoved to far back and was cause problems with the gas pedal. That resulted in the ICM making the clicking noise you are refering to. I moved my rug back to the correct positon and the clicking noise has now stopped. I am not sure if this is what is wrong with your car but check to see if that is your problem.

Yes, I need to do something with that darn aftermarket rug, it does cause problems and could be the culprit. Thanks, good catch, I will check it out

Hi Scuba dave, I had a surging problem wityh my 95 and had leaking intake gaskets. The surging seemed worse at very light throttle around 35 -45 MPH. If your garage has a smoke machine they could easily check it.
