I recently purchased a 1993 Olds Eighty-Eight LS, which appeared to be in pretty good condition the day I took a look at it. In short, the day I received the car, problems started, there was an enormous amt of thick white smoke coming from the tailpipe and lots of leaking from the tailpipe everytime I start the car, the coolant temperature automatically indicates HOT upon start up of the engine, the battery indicator appeared on the dashboard and the parking brake cannot be engaged. Also, the power steering just kinda stopped working. I had it inspected and I was told that there was leakage from the transmission, the coolant, and from the engine. There was no response from the power steering when tested, the e-vac erratic, the intake manifold was leaking, shock towers were rusty, the floor was open in several places and that jacking points had collapsed. I have not brought the car in for repairs because I was told by the inspector that it would be extremely expensive to repair. I do not know if it is worth bringing it in for repairs or easier to scrap it. Basically, what I want to know is, can anyone of you tell me whether it is worth it to bring it in for repairs? This is my first Olds and not familiar with costs. Thanks

I would ask a qualified mechanic that knows the value of that car if it was him that owned it would he spend the time and money into a car that is 11 yrs old, what I would fear is the white smoke coming out the exaust, that could be a head gasket,a head or a engine block. From what you stated is wrong with car it was not in good shape when you bought it,good luck
