Paintball - Why Not?

I really want a paintball gun, but my dad won't let me. I honestly don't see what the problem he has with them is. As my friends and I regard them, they are a superficial fun, activity. But, he views it as an emulation of war, and it will desensitze us to violence and what not. Come on, its not like we're gonna grow up to become serial killers or anything..... well, most of my friends have gotten markers, and basically the only thing they're gonna do this summer is paintball :banghead: and, naturally, if I don't have a marker i won't be able to participate.

how could I convince my dad to let me get a marker?

Buy one and keep it your mates house, or in your car boot like I do (airsoft).

Just buy it. Being a teenager is all about getting away with stuff behind your parents' backs. Just be careful to avoid any conspicuous paintball welts...dead giveaway...

Well, I was in the same boat as you, my parents didnt want me "having a weapon" what you really need to say to them is, Look, mom, dad, this is a game, it will allow me to exhale my anger in an unviolent way, without harming anyone. Would you really like me to be one of those kids that goes to school with an AK-47 and a trench coat? Probably not. Try going into a convienience store and look for a paintball magazine, bring it home to your parents and say, If you really care about me, please read this. The paintball magazines make damn sure to prove that this is a recreational game, and not violent at all. Paintball is also a great way to socialize and good excercise.

Just tell your parents, if they dont allow you to have one, you are just going to hide it from them anyways, so what difference does it make?

for the thing about being 18 to buy one? do you know anyone of that age? do your friends have older sisters or brothers, if not, just go into walmart and hunt down someone that looks 18 and offer them 5 bucks to pretend to be your brother and buy you a paintball gun :icon16:

paintball is just playing long range tag.
It has nothing to do with real guns and war.

First, the paint is moving 280-290 fps outdoors and 260 fps indoors. You can see them coming and duck. Unless your Neo, you can't do that with bullets. so there's to relation to real guns.

Second, Tree branches and plywoods stops the paint. Again not the same with real guns.

Third, I've shot 20-30 paintballs in the air at about a 87 degree angle and tagged someone out that was standing behind a wall. He was completely behind the wall and not happy about getting tagged out.

Fourth, in paintball everyone comes back after the game.

Fifth, most players no longer wear any camo. It's really quite stupid to wear camo, since most players have bright chrome guns, or anodized blue, purple, splash, red.... Like your going to be playing and say to yourself, "Hey that bush has a chrome automag??? What's up with that?? And that tree has a bright purple angel??? Wierd." :lol2:
So people wear bright colored jersies, that the paint cleans off between games easily.

It's just long range tag. That's why when your hit you yell "OUT!, I'M OUT".

I sold my paintball gun last year, and pretty much stopped paying attention to the whole sport as I couldnt afford to play anymore, but I used to buy a magazine called Action Pusuit Games ( I think thats what It was) it was relatively thick, and acutally a good read. You should be able to find it in the Weapon/Gun magazine section at your local store.

that sucks that your parents wont let you man. I took my dad and my uncle out with me and my team one weekend for one of our practices it was great. Just dont spend 1,000 dollars on a marker like i did unless you plan on having a team and play alot of tournements. and tournies are so fun, you meat new people and you learn so much. i recommend them. Action pursuit games is a great magazine.
