I have a 95 4runner with 33" recently put on. I noticed a loss in low end power especially when towing my quad or waverunner. I have been told I have 4.10 gearing? Would it be good to go to 4.56? I some day down the road will do the 3.0 to 3.4 engine conversion and will run 35" then. any one have any tips on this?
thank you.
thank you.

Measure the circumference of both the stock tires and the new ones. Multiply the 4.10 by the ratio of these circumferences to find an equivalent rear-end ratio for the new tires.
I doubt a 4.56 ratio is what you need.

For 33" you need 4.88's.
From a 28" tire to a 33" tire = 17.85 percent larger diameter.
From a 28" to 35" = 25.00 percent larger.
4.88 give you 19.02 percent lower ratio
5.29 give you 29.02 percent lower ratio
4.56 only give you 11.21 percent lower...(31")
28" is stock 4WD tire diameter. If your Runner came with 31" tires, it probably already has 4.56's.

Mine came with 31"s so if i have 4.56 then it would be good to go to 4.88's?

if you go to 33" then 4.88 is good
if you go to 35" then go to 5.29
if you go to 35" then go to 5.29

"F" it. Put 5.71's and run some 38" or 40" tires.

LOL 40's would be sweet. 4:88's will do you perfect in that setup. I put some 33's on and had the same problem, but mine came with the base wheel package on a 4 cyl so a cam and gearing solved the slowrunner problem.
