I need to know if anyone knows where I can get the clip that goes in the engine block that holds in the oil dipstick.

You could just drop in a new dipstick for about 9 dollars. And it is chrome and comes with that clip in chrome too. Just go to auto zone.

Already tried that, and it doesnt come with the clip. The 1 at autozone seems to be fatter than the oem 1 but it says that its for my engine which is a 69-78 350 block with the dipstick on the drivers side of the engine.

I bought one for mine. I just bought the one for the chevy big block and it popped right in after I broke one and bought another. I had to bend the hell out of it to get it to fit and not be kinked.

The small blocks with the drivers side dipsticks dont use a clip to hold them in. They just press into the block.

Well first thing in the morning I will take a picture to show you that mine has a small round clip that fits in the hole and then the dipstick goes into that. I thought it just slid in aswell but since I've never seen one with a clip in it I decided to ask you guys.......

tardster, which camaro in your sig are you working on and what year is it? one of em appears to be an 88? if so the dipstick should be on the passenger side, but it's a long narrow dipstick un-like the one's used on the earlier blocks and it does use a clip. if it's on the driver's side then it's not the original motor and it uses a press in dipstick.

The 82 is the one im working on, and no its not the original engine. The engine is a 69-78 350 with the dipstick on the drivers side. There is a round clip in the block where the dipstick goes in it, I myself have never seen one before either so I was thinking the person who built the engine just used the clip and dipstick out of the original 305, but anywho thats why I posted this was to find out.

that's odd, cant say i've ever seen that before. that clip must be a reducer of something. can pull that clip out and just use a standard small block dipstick?

Its not the end of a broken tube is it? The only other thing in the drivers side hole is the lower tube that sits under the press in tube.
