I have a 2003 OZ Rally Lancer that makes a bad grinding sound when braking. It happened first at 17k miles, rotors were turned and brake pads changed. happening again at 24k. I go easy on the brakes to try to keep them from getting hot and warping but it doesn't do any good. Anyone know if this is normal for this model? Any aftermarket parts available to fix the problem? thank you for any help...

I've never heard of that problem. I have an 03 ES and I beat the fuck out of it and my brakes are fine. I drove 24,000km on the original pads/discs (beating the shit out of it, going 200, lots of sudden braking.., lots of 200-100 braking..). When I had everything checked out at 24,000km they said I was 40% left in front and 70% in back. No big deal. Had them change pads and resurface discs. Car still braked the same after...
I have a strange problem but I think it's due to the rim being a universal rim. I bent the original by accident so I replaced it with a cheapass universal rim (bad move maybe). They said it wasn't a perfect fit so it may cause some vibration or pulling at higher speeds. Well ... I think it's affecting my braking, when I brake hard it makes like a vibration kinda hard to explain.
but otherwise it brakes fine
you definitely should not be getting bad grinding sound if you go easy on your brakes. These cars have an excellent braking feel and usualyl work very well too. I would complain seriously at the dealership. I wouldn't put up wtih that, it could potentially be very dangerous. not something to fuck around with.
good luck... theres always aftermarket parts... if you find some good brakes let me know id be interested too :P

I have a lancer OZ rally 2003 and I am having the same exact problems with my brakes and I only have about 20,000 miles on my car. Ive gone to the dealership to complain but theyre not doing anything about it exept saying wut they have to do and then giving me a price on it. I think that its crazy to have my brakes be doing this already after having my car for a little more than a year.

I dont really know what the problem is, cause I dont specialize in brakes. Did you try getting stronger aftermarket ones?
