Is it possible to remove the automatic transaxle from a Fiero without taking the subframe(cradle) down? :uhoh:

I had the tranny rebuilt and I'm wondering if they really took the tranny out or just did what they could. The bolts look undisturbed and rusty. I replaced the cradle this week end and the rear bolts were rusted in place and took some effort to remove. I guess what I really needed to say is Can the Tranny be romoved with out dropping the cradle. Can it be manuevered enough to slip out without dropping the cradle, as I know the cradle WAS NOT removed or dropped. I know that the engine needs to be supported from the top. Thanks for ANY info

an expierienced fiero mechanic can easily remove the tranny, on a stick shift it is easier to replace a clutch by removing engine... but in your case automatic trannys can be taken out without droping cradle.( check fluid and filter bolts to see if the work was performed) fluid should be red and clean, and bolts should have some wear.

Thanks I will do that as soon as I get a chance to go "UNDER" again. LOL I have all the rear plastic off so I can steam the Motor/Tranny area and I'll be sure to look before I clean it. Thanks for the info Rick
