110k Mr2t or 11k Gst Spyder

My parent's friends currently has a red '96 gst Spyder with 11k miles. I don't believe it has been properly stored over the years (just parked in the garage and not driven for months a time) so they've had to replace the batteries more than usual. They are asking around $7,000. I am not really familar with the potentials of the engine but I've had my heart set on a 91 mr2t for awhile now. I've been reading up on them for several months and know a good deal about them. I know next to nothing on the Eclipse

I currently drive a 96 Sebring jxi convertable so I'm not really looking for another drop top (they've always been "girl cars" too me), but the mileage is extremley low. The same priced mr2 would have 100k more miles on it and be 5 years older. I'm pretty turned off by the FWD though. The good thing is if I don't get it, my mother probably will sell our van and get it herself and I'll be able to drive it some while I save up this summer for my mr2.

Does anyone have a general opinion on the GST? Any other comments or suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks
