Quoted $350 ...too high ?

hey all ... well after thinking about my slow car ... i thought i have to take action:eek: i rang up advanced imports and asked to give me a quote to have my sparks changed to platinum and gap ped to .8mm +dyno runs and they say they will have a look at my car through out to try to cure my problem ... they quoted me 350 dollers ... that 350 nz dollers ... is that too high ? do you think i should just get spark fitted cheaply at some other mechanic and get a separate dyno runs where they specialise in dyno runs only for 50 bucks ? cause every one is saying advanced imports dont come cheap on ya ... I fitted my boost gauge there for 100 bucks ... having i supplied them with all they need ... any suggestions of this quote ? too high ? or ok ?

as far as dyno runs go; yes Torque Performance charge $50 for a run, but all it is is a run. You don't get any tuning or diagnostics I don't think, unless it's something that's really obvious I suppose Robin would notice and tell you.

Advanced maybe ain't cheap, but they're good. Consider that $130 or so of that is the plugs - if you can get 'em cheaper that'll cut a little off the bill.

r33gts25t: have a chat to Paul from Crowley Racing... he myte be able to sort you out something. He's an awesome mechanic... he doesnt have a dyno there but i know he can sort a dyno tune out... He's on Sunnybrae Rd... across the st from Tyre City.. and behind Auto Stop... Tell him JP sent you over and he'll sort you out nice :)

well ... thx for all the replies and suggestions all .... well the problem with my car is ... ITS SLOW ... lol hmmm if you havent heard .... Im the guy that lost to a stocky auto WRX... now ... even though my car is auto as WELL ... :alien: I still lost from 0 ... AND at the high end ... from 100 to 160 ? some where there ... I mean loosing to a stocky auto WRX at the high end ... now i think there might be a problem ... i lost by more of a diffrence in the high end than from 0 ... my car has no huge difference in acceleration with 3000 rpm or 5000 rpm ... and ... my bros WRX had a busted transmission ... hmmm ... still lost lol
so Im hoping that its the plugs ... and then ill dyno it ... then if its not the plugs ... well may be running too rich etc etc ... I dont know all this shit about why cars run slower than they should dadi dadi da ... so i hope the tuners or mechanics can cure my problem ... well ... so thats my story... im hoping its all good in the next few weeks ... oh ... and im getting my interior painted (White) ive followed wat SDU recommends in the mod page ... but i have noticed ... that after fitted .. they seem to crack if you like hit it with your nail etc etc ... i have 1 chip so far ... well ... i guess these are things your have to live with huh ? any one done this interior painting ? expericeing chips and scratches ?

If ya want a good job - take the car to techncar - talk to the main man there Harvey - he is the complete shit when it comes to sorting out this sorta problem - just dont be scared when ya see the place FULLED with 300z's.... he knows nissans inside-out and has some nice computing power for diags.....Advanced Imports are good - but Techncar is just one step better (my opinon..)...

and oh yeah ... today for a change today in a long time i went full out on my car... and it only reminded me more that my car is FUCKING slowit feels like the car is ... EMPTY ... the only way i can explain ... no bloody pull wat so every at high rpm ... maybe from 0 i can atleast feel the boost coming on ... well slightly ....

Yip....the Harvster did it again....no dyno - raw - took the day - changed oils (to the goodness of elf), all filters, sparks, went over all cables (clutch, handbrake etc), bleed brakes, aligned pads, tweaked ECU settings etc etc etc - cost who cares - its just unreal!!...

Harvey is the man. He did work on my 300zx last week (they ARE the Z masters in Auckland/NZ in my opinion) and .. yea, I was just totally impressed by him and every aspect of his operation. Really friendly, helpful, tells you about what has to be done, even shows it to you, comes across as a really genuine sorta guy. Nothing but good things to say about him.
