hey i almost sold my 94 6 spd z28 but i didnt instead im selling my truck but besides that my camaro doesnt like to start
the starter is stating but it takes a long while to start sometimes it just cranks it but it doesnt start i am hoping that 89iroc has an answer he seems very inclined about this stuff
i have a feeling it might be the piston rings i hope not there is 110000 miles on it and everything else runs strong the spark plugs need to be replaced
well thanks for the help

Sounds like it could be the ole opti-spark distributor, or maybe the coil... Maybe it's not getting fuel. In that case the fuel pump could be bad. Does it not start everytime you try to start it or is it intermittent?

well it starts everytime it just takes a few seconds of the starter cranking
once it starts its fine there will be sometimes were it will start right away and then sometimes where i have to hold the key for like ten seconds
hey what rims are those i have the same ones but i dont have the centercaps and i want to get the center caps for them
thanks

the oil pressure is fine thats whats so weird i am wondering if its electrical like in the ignition to initiate the first spark or something
if it was the opti wouldnt it sputter and stuff during normal driving
thanks

well, a tuneup wouldnt hurt, if youre worried about your piston rings you can always run a compression test on it. but for what youre describing, sounds like your battery is dying. id have the battery checked out to see if there is a problem with it. might as well go have the whole battery, starting, and charging system tested to make sure its all good. could be the starter motor, but id look to the battery from what your describing. normally if its an ignition swich, it will work or it wont, holding the switch in start wont do anything if its bad. look at your positive battery terminal for leaking acid or corrotion, that kinda stuff.

try turning the ignition to the on position and wait about 10 seconds, then see if it will start any easier

i will have to try that
the car starts everytime it just varies on how long it takes each time

ok i tried that it didnt work
i was playing with it today while i was driving and i noticed that when i hit 1900 rpm and try to cruise at that in any gear except 1st it sputters just a little bit until you get to 2000 rpm
are these problems related
i have just started driving it again it has been in my garage since january however the starting problem started before i garaged it
also when i hit 85 mph a very loud vibration starts to happen you can hear it a little bit around 70 but at 85 it becomes apparent
im guessing my tires need to be balanced but i was wondering what else it could be
i use to have an 89 rs with a 5spd and the rearend went out on that and i dont want it to happen again with this one
thanks

I just had the same problem with my gfs car.. If it sat for any longer than 10 minutes it had to crank a while to start..
I just talked to the tech today that looked at it, and he said the fuel pressure regulator needed to be replaced... It was slowly leaking fuel into the intake thats why it took a little while to fire up

now that makes sense i think i am going to check and see if i can get the part for not to bad of a price and switch it out if not i will just try and test it or something
thanks
